Has anyone ever put a note in a bottle and sent it down the river? I have but it must of gotten stuck somewhere because I never heard anything...many years ago my daughter asked me if we could send a note on one of her birthday balloons and send it up.. we wrote if anyone finds this please write to and our address was attached...well low and behold a month later there was a letter from this little girl with her picture inside. my daughter was sooooooo excited and wrote her back. they stayed in touch for awhile but then it fizzled. that balloon traveled hundreds of miles away...do you have a story you can share?

That is great that your daughter actually got a response back! I have read about people doing that and some getting a response, but I have never tried it. It is great when someone actually finds the note and does respond back.

I've ever thought of making a drift bottle when i was a little boy, but this never happened.I think it's interesting to put a message into a bottle or a balloon(just as you did) or any other things then send it thousands of miles away, and that must be very exciting to get a feedback! However, i won't try to make one now since it seems environmental unfriendly.

I've only ever read about these stories of the "message in a bottle" going into the sea and being found somewhere far away, maybe starting a penfriend relationship,or more..It's not something that I've ever tried myself..the other related thing, like Your Birthday balloon,is where some charity event releases balloons to see how far one of them can get..having seen these plastic foil balloons staying inflated for days with Helium inside,I'd be interested in hearing how far one of those could travel!

Message in a bottle huh? Kindda funny but I think I tried it once when I was a child. I was angry at somebody back then so I wrote a letter, put in a bottle and thrown it to the sea. Well, no one answered it. Haha, those days... XD
