i love this band.. and ive noticed that their songs are usually about peace and brotherhood.. take "wake me up when september ends", the MTV is all about how wars affect a soldier's life.. and then 21guns also have a good message in its lyrics... i think more artists should come up with those kinds of songs, dont you think?

the first time i heard the song "wake me up when..."i loved it.i remember i kept listening to this song at least 10 times before going to bed that night.in my opinion, greenday is a anti-war punk band.i almost burst into tears when i watched the mtv of "wake me up when...".i realized how cruel wars are.why dont people lay down their arms n try to forget the fights?obviously, antiwar songs and stories is a very important brand in their creation.well,i am glad that you also love greenday.please add me as ur friend.

In the glory days of rock, many excellent songs were about important issues. The Canadian band, Rush, has excellent social, historical, and political commentary in their songs, in addition to having a very talented drummer and guitarist. There have always been "fluffy" artists with lyrics that could have been written by a 12 year old (don't believe me? listen to Elvis Presley's "Hound Dog" the entire song is four lines repeated over and over.) but there are always been quality songs written by intelligent, talented people as well. When "American Idiot" came out, I went through a hard-core Greenday obsession that lasted about a year. I haven't heard their latest album, though.
