hi friends. here is the situation. its one of those cold november nights with occasional rain making the weather even cooler. i go to bed with a very think blanket and turn on the fan. it was already cold but after turning on the fan,it was freezing so i get under the blanket and i dont feel the chilling effect. then i thought why need a fan in this cold weather and turn it off and find that even with and without the blanket,i am having a hard time sleeping. why is that? i dont feel any effect of the fan under the blanket but i sleep well but if i turn it off,i cant sleep.

I think you should buy yourself another blanket, one made from a different material of your choice.. something "breathable"... you know what i mean..? I think i know what you're experiencing.

Hi stardust, Exactly the same problem with my nine year old son. He can’t sleep without a fan and now it is cool in night I can’t sleep with the fan 'on'. One day I accepted his wish and allow him to run the fan and the next day my throat infected, he too on cold and cough. Now I am not listening his pleading for ‘tuning on’ the fan. You just leave the blanket and turn off the fan then sleep. I hope you can sleep comfortably without a running fan.

Hi, For me, I used to sleep in air-con room since I was small.so giving me a fan, I will have difficulty to sleep at night, unless it is raining out there ,then open the window and has some fresh air, then only I can sleep. But I won't need a blanket at all. For my son, he does not like to cover blanket, even it is cold. He will just flip away the blanket and the blanket will end up at his back.

I think this problem is common when weather changes from summer to winter, it looks like musicological as it became habit for long time so in start it becomes difficult to leave but it can cause some health problem so advisable is to turn off the fan...:)

yeah, it's really hard to adjust to weather change. i think it has something to do with global warming. well, it depends on the lotter, but i do use fan but sometimes not directed to me.

It is possible that the dull hum of the fan is like a lullaby to you. Either that or it is psychological. I wished that it was cold here. I have the A/C on and it is still way too hot for me. Grrrr. I miss the drastic change in seasons.

Well, here we sometimes run the fan in slightly cold weather, because of Mosquitoes, who are in abundance in our area. (if the wealth of a person was measured by the number of mosquitoes giving him or her company, I would be a very rich person!). However, now we have temperatures below 18 Degree Celsius in Delhi now a days during night, and it feels quite cold, so we turn off our fans.

in the winter or does the cold weather at the time it was hard to sleep because of the cold but before that you can drink warm water first and then start to sleep and if not it could be, although you can sleep with a fan maybe that's what you must do drink water warm and then turn the fan after falling asleep

Maybe it's a habit. Well actually I'm kindda like that though. I turn the fan on regardless of the temperature. It's like the oxygen I breathe is small if the fan is off. Well that is how I feel though. Why not drink a hot milk before going to bed, it helps me get a good night sleep. ^_^
