Friends, Diwali , the festival of fireworks and lights is on 5th November, some will observe for two days too. My grandkids are here in my home. We will observe ‘Dhanteras’, worship Goddess Laxmi, and celebrate Diwali with fireworks, crackers and light oil or ghee wick lamps, that we call ‘DIYA’. Fireworks, crackers involve danger, but we often do not realize the potential danger, and therefore ignore even the most rudimentary precautions. With caution and proper care we can ensure a safe and fun-filled Diwali. Here are the tips: Never allow your kids to play with fireworks unattended DOS Supervise children while they light fireworks Make them light fireworks outside the house Have them hold sparklers away from the body Keep ‘flower pots’ and ‘chakras’ on even, flat ground while lighting them Have them light up rockets only on open ground Ensure proper distance from the fireworks away at a distance while they are lighting them Make sure they are wearing closed footwear and close-fitting clothes of thick material (instead of loose or flowing garments) while lighting fireworks Keep a water bucket and burn ointment (or aloe vera gel) handy Check the area before igniting fireworks to ensure that no inflammable materials are near Ensure they light only one firework at a time Discard used fireworks in a bucket of water DON’TS Let them not bend over fireworks while lighting them, or approach them if in doubt about whether they are live or not Let them not light fireworks while holding them in hand Let them not keep extra fireworks in pockets Let them not wear Nylon clothes, only cotton, it is safest while lighting crackers Let them not try to light used fireworks Let them not light firecrackers with a matchstick, but rather a candle of agarbatti, this ensures sufficient distance between their hands and the cracker Let them not use fireworks indoors Let them not put fireworks into any container before lighting them up Let them not mix anything with the contents of fireworks or make fireworks at home Let them not ignite aerial fireworks where overhead obstruction (trees, wires, etc.) or even heavy wind exist Let them not throw or point fireworks at other people Hope you like this. Any tips from your side? HAPPY DIWALI TO ALL MYLOT MEMBERS AND FRIENDS Professor

The best tip that I can think of when it comes to fireworks safety for kids is that they shouldn't be around any kind of lit fireworks at all. However, there are going to be times that children are around fireworks and one of the most important things that you can do in that kind of situation is to make sure that the adults are being very proactive in that situation so that there are no accidents that happen with the fireworks.

Good lists and reminders for the people out there who are planning to enjoy Christmas and New Year using fireworks. When I was kid I love seeing fireworks at night. I hope all the people will have the chance to read this and may all we have a happy memorable holiday.

Hello Professor New Year will be coming soon after Christmas. for me and my family, we don't use fireworks anymor. That's because my mom, eldest brother and their kids have Asthma problem. so, they only use noise just to appreciate New Year. in my country people still get hurt by the blast.

Unfortunately, some states here have made many fireworks illegal to sell! Many go to other states to purchase them and cross state lines to bring them home. This happened because not enough people (parents) listened to the safety rules! Injury to children was the driving force behind these laws!
