Do you study in advance.... or wait until there is a test to study for?

I rarely study in advance since I don't know what to study. But I think it really pays to be prepared, you never know when your teacher is going to have a surprise quiz. I think a good student should study every day, or just read something. What do you think? From now on, I'd read in advance my books in school..

I do not study in advance for exams. I just don't have the time! If I had more time I would, like if it was my ONLY class and I had no other responsibilities like work. But there just aren't enough hours in the day. I'm an A student still though (in nursing school) so I don't think I'm doing too bad like that.

Well I usually wait if there is a test but sometimes when there is nothing to do I study in advance in one subject that I know will eventually will give one so in this way my load of studying will lessen.

See I think that by taking notes on everything when the teacher is giving a lecture, I am doing the best thing possible to study as I go. Therefore, it is just unloading information bit by bit into my mind as opposed to cramming everything at once. Now granted, this is something that I do not recommend for every person, but if you feel it is something that works for you going for it.
I think that studying right before the test actually does more harm than good. If you try and cram the information into your mind too close before, it is much easier to blank in my mind. Trust me, I used to really study this way. However, when I started tackling school a bit slowly, instead of studying right before the test, I started to do better. Then again, your experiences my vary, but that's just works for me.

I agree with you...about the taking notes is studying. And yes it is not for everyone because people have different learning skills- the Visual, Auditory, and Tactile ...I'm a visual learned so the taking notes works for me. I'll try your way of studying and see how it works out
