Scientifically engineered food (Matrix Food)

I read in my biology book that the United States has allowed people to scientifically engineer vegetables and fruit and sell it in our supermarkets without our knowledge. Furthermore the FDA does not feel it is necessary to label these foods. I feel that I should have a right to know what they are feeding us at all times. I am tired of the government experimenting on us, like we are human guinea pigs. What do you think about this?
