It has also become necessary to save electricity to prevent global warming and save it for our next generations. We use electricity in many forms such as lights and our electric appliances. But do you switch off your lights or appliances when not in use?

Ok, that's great. But there are some appliances which are internally wired to the switch board and you cant unplug them such as tubes and bulbs, so in that case you can only switch them off and you can't unplug them. Happy mylotting.
Thanks for your response.

I switch all off usually, there's only a couple which I never do and one is my Television as I simply have it on stand by and my subscription box. My land line phone only get's switched off when I'm away on holiday, so I generally turn everything else on. I don't like wasting electricity but certain things such as the phone I have on for a very good reason, my television doesn't use much power on stand by and it's much less than what my lighting in the living room would use if it remained on.
So I'm quite happy with that myself.

Ok, we know that our television does not consume much power so it is fine to keep it at standby mode and cell phone is a daily need so i can understand that. I think tube lights , air conditioners and computers are the things that consume much of electricity and they should be switched off when not in use. Happy mylotting.

hello harry89,
Yes, I do and figure every penny I save the better. Even the computer is shu off.
I havedefrosted my freezer in the basement and all the food is gone and I never plugged it back in. I have no use for it right with both my daughters being in colleg right now and only me to feed. I use my freezer upstairs to store meat and vegetables etc.
Thanks and have a great day!

I do that all of the time. This is a really simple way to save money. So simple that I think that many people would not think of it. However, you can shave a lot off of the electric bill. Which fits my attitude in life about saving pretty much every cent that I can manage.

Yes, I do. I have also read that, just switching off the appliances is not good enough. We need to switch off the main and if possible, pluck out the plug. Apparently, the appliances will still consume electricity even when they are switched off.

Well i wrote switch off but i did not mean about switching of a applince which is connected through a plug. I used Swich off for the appliances which can not be plugged out due to the internal wiring of that appiances. But you are right that if we have plugged an appliance into socket then we should plug it off. Happy mylotting.

I do switch the lights and other appliances whenever possible. Sometimes I use candle lights to save electricity. The cost of the electricity is higher in our place and it costs a lot. So I try to save electricity as far as possible. I think it is good idea to have candle light dinners once in a while. Some of the restaurants also provides candle light dinner. Not only it is romantic, but also helps to save electricity.

Ok. That's good as you are contributing to a noble cause of saving electricity as we know that the natural resources are diminishing very soon so we should save them as efficiently as possible. And also it contributer in reducing global warming. Happy mylotting.
Thanks for your response.
