Would you like to spend your entire life on travelling?

I once heard about a couple who spent their entire lives on travelling. They travelled from country to country, and when they ran out of money they found a temporary job in the country where they were at that moment, and they saved up money so that they could continue travelling from place to place. They managed to visit many, many different countries around the world.
When I was younger I was very jealous of them and I wanted to do the same thing. I thought that it would be amazing to see so many different countries, learn many different languages and live and work in different cultures. Today I still want to travel a lot, but I prefer to have a permanent home and I don't want to travel from place to place my entire life.
What do you think about the lifestyle that the couple had? Would it appeal to you to travel from place to place your entire life or do you prefer to have a permanent home and go on many short trips?

Yes, this would be definitely thrilling and a good experience to know more about countries !!
But on what basis they would give the Visa?
If we are supposed to visit some country we need to give them a particular reason!!
If we are going to work, then we need to stay there according to their agreement and if we are going as a tourist we cannot work...There are many constraints applied in..
If those things are removed and no barriers between and if their is unity among the nations and it would be definitely a better chance to work in many countries and learn their environments and culture and travel throughout !!!

You are right about the visas and the other rules. This couple was from Europe and Europeans are able to travel within the European union without a visa and they are able to work within the European union without a work permit, but if you want to travel outside Europe there are many rules. You can't "just" travel from place to place or work in other countries and I wonder how they did that. The rules about visas often depend on nationality, but there are many restrictions.

I enjoy living my daily life and then going off traveling for a few weeks at this time in my life. When I was younger I did long trips of a just over one year traveling around the world when I was 20 years old. I went to New Zealand and the Pacific Islands on a trip of several months when I was 29 years old. I enjoy having a home to return to after my travels. My possessions are important to me and in my backpack I can't carry many of them. Life on the road can get a bit tiring in developing countries which haven't got too many comforts. I wouldn't want to spend all of my life traveling as I like a permanent home and go on lots of trips. I have at least one trip a year. Sometimes I am lucky enough to get two or three trips in one year. I think the couple must have had to be happy on the road all the time. It is interesting they got jobs, worked a bit and then moved on.

It is must have been really interesting to travel around the world, that has always been one of my dreams When I was younger I was away from my home for many months and I worked in other countries, but now I am married and I have many pets, so I travel in a different way. Now I spend most of the time at home and go on short trips instead of travelling for many months. Fortuneately my husband shares my passion for travelling so we are able to travel together.

hi porscopino, just like you. i also dream to travel around the world. that's why right now, i really wish my father could give me his long time promise - an slr camera - so that by the time money is not an issue for me - i will be travelling not just here in Philippines but also abroad. i will take pictures of the places i went to and will make a photo journal of it.
first target is japan. though my friends have already said that it's really expensive in their, i will go to that place.
next is europe or italy. architectural buildings and etc.
then, asian countries.
of course, traveling is kind of tiring. i really like to travel but with breaks of course. to let my body rest from exhaustion. =)
cheers, my friend. =)

Taking pictures of the places that you visit and creating a photo journal sounds like a great idea. It has always been one of my dreams to visit Japan I have Japanese friends that I would like to visit and I would love to travel around in the country and visit different places. I would love to visit other places in Asia as well, I don't have the money to pay for a trip like that, but maybe one day...

Hi,
Oh..travelling is always my hobby, but I don't have chance to
travel around the world yet and at this moment, I don't have the time and
money to do so.
Talking about your post on couple who travelled from country to
country, are they allow the work by just holding tourist visa at that country?
By right, it is prohibited by law.
Maybe they are pretty lucky able to get a job in any countries.
I wish I will have more chance to travel around the world in future and
my dream destination is Europe,Australia, japan and korea.

The couple were from Europe and I know it is possible to work in other European countries without a work permit as long as their home country and the other country both belong to the European union, but outside Europe? I also wonder how they managed to work in other countries when they were travelling as tourists. Maybe illegally (without a workpermit?) I know that some foreigners do that in my country.

Probably not. I always want a house to wherever or whenever i go to, i know that my family waiting me come back home. Thats sweetest and easiest thing we can have in our entire life and i dont want let it go. I love travelling and my dream is travel around the world ( i did - maybe 1% :D ) About a couple who spent their entire life to travel... idk if they can do it till the end or not. Always change the place we live in, today we here, nextday we there, maybe we meet more new friends but what for if tomorrow we have to say goodbye and set sail to elsewhere again? Im sure someday they will feel tired, want find good place to call home and live there.

Yes, I am sure that they meet a lot of different people that way and find many new friends, but it must be hard to find longterm friendships when they always travel from place to place. If I lived like this couple I would miss my family and my friends from my own country and I prefer to have a home to return to. I love travelling and there are so many places around the world that I would like to visit, but I prefer to travel for a while and return to my home when my trip is over.

It sounds like an exciting and fast-paced life, but not one I would consider. Just settling down with a steady job seems to be a lifestyle I'd be more suited for. Traveling is fun I'll admit, but it's something I would scarcely do. Plus, a temporary job sounds risky financially, in that it may take them a long time to gather the required funds to move on.

I also think that the temporary jobs sound risky. I wonder what they would do if they had no more money left and weren't able to find a job because of language problems or because there were a lot unemployment in the country where they were when they ran out of money. In their own country they might have been able be to ask their family or your friends for financial help, but in a foreign country the situation is different, and they have to handle problems on their own.

That would be my dream...to travel the world. I had some friends that did that right out of high school. The joke was, it was my idea, but than I chickened out at the last minute, and I have regret it ever since. Of course now I have kids and I guess I will have to wait until the last one is out of school. Hopefully by then I will still be young enough to travel...lol

It is also one of my dreams to travel around the world. I probably wouldn't travel for a year like some people do, but I would like to travel 2 or 3 months at a time. I would start in Asia, it has always been one of my dreams to visit many different countries in Asia. I hope that you will also manage to travel the world one day

Travelling would be an exciting adventure for so long. then it might lose its flavor for me. i don't think travelling all the time is something that would appeal to me. there are other things in life that I would want to do also,

First of all travelling needs lot of money, yea i like travelling a bit not that onto it, well visiting new places and people is my dream too, but the expenses of it is too high, if am a millionaire i would sure take a day off and go places with my finance that of course will never happen, and second that am not a person who is good at adapting things. i would certainly enjoy my life here in peace.

Its not for me... I think. It is hard to travel and be in different places these days especially if you will travel overseas abroad. I feel that it is still nice to make a visit to other places and be back to our original hometown than to hop everywhere where destiny would lead us. It will also be tiring and involves a lot of money. And I do believe, in certain people or race this will be more difficult since travelling from third world to first world countries will mean a lot of questioning and regulation. I do hope to see and travel around the world together with my family, but I like only to do it in a couple of days to couple of month. At least, that was comfortable enough for all of us to see and experience the beauty and wonders our planet has to offer.

I also like to have a permanent home to return to. I love travelling and visiting other parts of world and I am sure that this couple have had a lot of really interesting experiences, but I prefer to travel for a relatively short period instead of travelling year after year without a break like they did.
You have a point about nationality and travelling. As far as I remember this couple was from Europe, and I don't know how hard it was for them to get visas, work permit and things like that. It depends on the different countries of course, but I know that there are many countries that you can't visit with a visa. The rules often depend on people's nationality which makes it harder for people from certain countries to a get a visa.

I think it's very nice, that they did it. And I'm 100% sure, that they have got a lot of fantastic and unforgetable experiences. But it's not they way I want to spend my life. I really like travelling and experience something new, but I wouldn't travel my whole life. I prefer to have a job, where I can feel secure and not switch job many times.
On the other hand I have some thoughts in my mind about living in other countries, for maybe 5-10 years, and then came home again, because I think it would be very interesting to learn a new language and a new culture.

I also think that they had a lot of interesting experiences. It must be fascinating to visit so many different places and cultures I share your thoughts about living in another country for a while, and I have done it a couple of times in the past. When I was in my 20's I lived and worked in other European countries for a while and it was really interesting. Today I am married and I have a home and many pets and I can't travel like I used to, but I still love the idea about learning a new language and getting to know a new culture.

Even if I love traveling, I won't spend much money especially my entire life with traveling. I can be okay with once or twice a year trip outside my country. It's exciting to learn different language yet I can do that as well with my own country because our country has like thousands of languages rather than the vernacular

Traveling is an adventure, trying to go places that you want to search and seeing the people that close to you. It is important to travel because it develops your experience about the different cultures, food, traditions and people around the world, it intensify our idea and self-awareness and give us the chance to meet and socialize with the other people. But I also like to have a permanent house that I can call it home. There is no place like home. The feeling of belonging is there.

Hi there my friend! If given the money and the opportunity I would prefer the lifestyle that they had. We are just as they say, passersby in this world and so nothing is permanent..so why not make it worthwhile by going to different places and make lots of friends, touch peoples lives and go on enjoying life with the one you love. Travelling prevents you from putting roots so it will not be that difficult leaving anything behind, or you can always carry with you those things you want to bring.

Hi Porcospino!.
Like I said before I love to travel but I don't like to spent all my life travelling. I want to have my root somewhere and I will travel from there to any destination.
I think there is the age where we really enjoy traveling and maybe there is a day when we wanna to spent it in comfort of our own house.

Wish I could do so! I love to travel all over the world. I visited a few countries but not all the countries. I always wanted to go various places and know the culture, ppl, geography and everything abt the place. Alas! it is not possible for me right now.
