I think we all have to deal with depression from time to time. Some people really have a problem with it, though, and have been diagnosed with depression from a doctor. I never have been diagnosed with depression but I do deal with it a lot and I think the best way is to pray about whatever is depressing me. I just watched a video on beliefnet.com about depression and I think this girl's therapist had a very good suggestion about how to deal with depression. Please watch it and share with us what you think about it. This is not a referral link: http://blog.beliefnet.com/beyondblue/

I think every second person in the world is suffering form depression, there are different reason of depression but in my mind the main reason beside economy and every thing is media, as we have access to all types of news and we can get any type of depression through this, thats why it is called being ignorant is much better than knowing about a certain disaster.
Very good and informative topic you have started and some very good discussion are already on board. Thanks for being the source of giving this to us, I am going to visit this site, thanks again...
Have a nice day....:)

I agree with this. I think the economy and the loss of jobs has really gotten everybody down these days. I also think the news makes people depressed. I know a woman at church who says she doesn't watch the news for this reason. I think the best thing to do is pray and read your bible. Also, I don't know if you know who Travis Tritt is or not. He's a country music singer in case you didn't know. He has a song called "It's A Great Day To Be Alive". Like I said in my discussion, I think we all get depressed at times but I think this is the way we should view life.

That's the way I do most of the time. I smile a lot out of habit. I think it's a good habit, though. I do tend to worry a lot, believe it or not. I think we all do at times. I think the best thing to do is pray and read yur bible. As Travis Tritt says, "It's A Great Day To Be Alive", lol! In case you don't know who Travis Tritt is, he's a country music singer and he has a song with that title.

Prayer can be quite useful. Personally, I have never experienced depression and it is hard for me to fathom what it might feel like. I have heard, however, that one's diet is often a major factor in how one controls one's mood. One myLot friend has a motto on the profile here that reads "I am the captain of my ship." I like that reminder that we really do control our own destinies. Good luck in managing your feelings. I have confidence in you!

Yes, depression may strike anyone at any age. Even a child as young as 8 years old can be deppressed... Anyone is susceptible to this...
I have not been diagnosed of depression but I guess i have been depressed for such a long time but I am struggling to keep my head high above the water to keep my sanity intact. it could be due to post partum because i am already a mum or it could be with my situation with my husband.
anyways, as long as it is manageable and doesn't cause any freaking alarm to your household , then you are ok. Sure thing, prayer if the best weapon when one is depressed. HE only have the power to heal yourmind and your heart, as well as youtr spirit. Reaching out to friends and loved ones also do good.:)

I agree that depression can strike at any age. Some people just don't realize that children as well as adults can be depressed. When I was a child, I worried about school a lot and my grades. I also worried about whether or not I had any friends. I think these are the main things that children worry about. Some childrn worry about their looks, too. I also agree that prayer is the best weapon and I think reading your bible helps a lot, too. Thank you for responding.

i guess thats true what she says :) we should live life calmly and not always stressed^^ and we should always say that we will get better^^ if we think that that wont happen it wont happen. we need to trust ourselves^^ we all can have a good life if we dont worry always. is easier said than done i know bcs me also im always worried but with stress and worries it will only make my life worse. we need to be more calm and try to fix things slowly. one thing at a time like she says in video^^ and thats right :) if you feel bad and need talk im here to listen to you cyrus :)

Thank you, sweetloveforeve! I think prayer helps a lot, myself, and I pray all the time. Yes, I think we should live life calmly and not be stressed. Sometimes it's not always possible, though. I tend to worry a lot, myself, although I know it doesn't help. Both of my parents were worriers, too, although I know it's normal for parents to worry about their children. They got worse about it the older they got, though. I've heard that if you worry about something and it doesn't happen, you've worried in vain. If it does happen, you've had to worry twice. It also shows a lack of faith in God.

I think the best way to beat depression is to surround yourself with a support group. May it be your family, close friends or a good bf/husband. Prayer is also one thing and a positive outlook in life. But of course if depression gets too long, I need that's the time a person needs medical help.

I agree with you. I think prayer is the best way to deal with depression. I pray all the time. I do tend to worry a lot but I think it's human to worry sometimes. I've heard that it shows a lack of faith in God. I've also heard that if you worry about something and it doesn't happen, you've worried in vain. If it does happen, you've had to worry twice. I also think it helps to find somebody to talk to. It also depends on who you talk to. Some people just don't like to hear about your problems. I live alone, though, and it's hard for me to find anybody to talk to at times. I never have married. However, I enjoy being single. I don't have a boyfriend but I'm looking, lol.

Yes, it's nighttime here. Right now it's 1:44 in the morning. I always have so much to do and it keeps me up. I've always been a night owl, anyway. You might be surprised at how many people are still up at this time of night here in the states. Some people even work at night.
