Iv tried fasting before. When I first tried it, it wasnt all that bad. Then hunger pain started to kick in, and would just get worse. Thats when I went to a bread fast. It works but I like bread to much, so I would get somewhat of a bad felling that im doing this all wrong. Can someone give me some pointers about fasting?

How long did you fast for? The act of fasting is to set aside something that you feel you need to have and putting God in its place. In the example of food, you abstain from food for a time period and everytime you get hungry, you use that time to spend with God (prayer, worship, study, etc). It is used to remind yourself that God is truly all you need and mor eimprotant than even food. It is used as a way to draw closer to him. If you wish to fast with food, I recommend starting small. Don't eat anything from sunrise to sunset. Everytime you feel hungry, pray or read God's word.

Thank you for that:). Another big problem That I get with fasting is that I get real tired. I would fast every other day, but on the days I fast, I would be asleep for most of the day. Then it would feel like Im not fasting right.

Fasting isn't just about food - you can renounce to something which is dear to you - like internet or pc. :D

So do you think it would be ok to just fast meals and not candy? I know it sounds stupid, but thats how me and my friend did it at one point lol.

The first time I fast was 7 days of No Internet. It was wonderful to me but then I learn that the way we fast is not the way the Lord want of us to. In the Old days fasting was done to afflict oneself before God which was never God idea. Humans were the ones who turn it that way. Isaiah 58:5-9 is the Godly way of fasting, try and do it this way. I don't believe that God want of us to be damage after having a fast. He is a good God. Hugs

As a Christian, fasting with prayer combined is a good practice.Fasting is defined as voluntarily abstaining from food for spiritual purposes.GOD's people throughout the Bible regularly practiced fasting.Primarily, the purpose of fasting is self-humbling.First, we need to evaluate what is our motive for fasting. I heard alot of Christians fasting because they want something from GOD and that should not be our motive. As you said, this is your first time to fast, I suggest that you do Daniel fast. This kind of fasting is when you eat fruits and vegetables and water for drinking only. But don't indulge yourself. You have to abstain from anything sweet as much as possible when you're fasting. If you want juice, you may chose unsweetened ones. When your body gets used to it then you can decide the kind of fasting you want to continue with. Actually, it's up to your conviction what you want to give to GOD. Anyway, GOD is always after our heart.
