What do you think your pet is saying about you ?

Most species animals that are commonly kept as pets do not have cognitive capacity for that type of thinking, let alone language. their minds and expressed behaviors seem mostly to be emotionally and instinctively based, with any higher level of cognition being structurally limited.
of course, if you have pets that most likely are cognitively self aware, like Apes, Cetaceans, Corvids, Elephants, or octopuses, and possibly others, they may be thinking about their conditions, themselves, abstract concepts like freedom and etc., wondering why they are being kept by you. some of these likely do have language of some sort, but it would be incomprehensible to you, and it is very unlikely that you would like what they were thinking and saying if you did know.
Do you think your pet understand what you are saying to them ?
