Do you still believe in promises?

At this modern day, it is so hard to believe into something until it actually happens.
Probably because of the hurt of broken promises that we actually become scared of believing that they do come true; that we sometimes feel that being too hopeful would just lead to disappointment.
It may be hard to believe but that is what we have to do. We have to have faith and trust.
Things may not always happen as we expected. Promises may be broken at times.
But these should not hinder us from believing and hoping that promises may still come true; and that our dreams may still happen.
We have to continue to hope and believe yet not expect too much.
When things happen as we hoped to be, let’s rejoice but if not, then believe there are better things to come or maybe it will just happen later.
I learned that optimism is really helpful and that it’s the better option.
Rough times are inevitable but we can do something on how we see and deal with things.
And it should be in the positive way.
Yes, I still believe in promises. :)

It would depend as to whom who give the promise and who is being promised. I always keep my word to someone who I give it with, I also take a confidence when someone makes a promise for me especially from friends and people I know directly. But to a complete stranger, I hesitate to give a 100 percent sure for that. Promises are still true these days as long as you know that those who give it are good promise keepers.
"PROMISES ARE NOT MEANT TO BE BROKEN, ONCE A PROMISE- DON'T BREAK IT" -- This is my stand.

i agree. Because a guy promised to me and I felt dissappointed that he did not make his promises. To all the guys out there, if u made promises, make it sure you won't break it.

Here here! You should keep your promises. So better not make a promise to anyone if you are not certain that you can make it happen. :)

There is a saying, "Never promise more than you can perform." If someone promises to give me stars from the sky I would never believe him. Know what the person is promising you and then only believe him. It is also important to know the reputation of the person who is making a promise. Some people believe that promises are made to be broken, never believe them.

A promise, whether spoken or written, is a contract. It has much steep value than a simple statement, it carries more weight. A promise connotes that we will most definately do what we say we will, as if not stating it in other instances there's a chance we won't. Never hold a promise you know for a fact you cannot hold true too. Or else, the person you've promised and betrayed will question you forever.

Yes I still do believe in promises because I know within myself that whenever I make one, I do my very best to live up to it. It is also very important, as much as possible, not to make promises you can't keep.

I don't know if I should still believe in promises, because lots of people, especially those who are close to my heart that didn't keep their promises that really made me hope for them. It hurts if a loved one breaks their promises, it hurts really bad. I always try not break my promises, and that is my principle in life, to not make promises I can't keep.

I don't. Maybe because of all the failed relationship that I've been through.. Though I still insist that my ex would make promises even if he's heavy hearted doing it,just for me to stop asking him... But I would like to see a promises made.

Promises are meant to be broken. But it doesn't at all times. Sometimes, people around us make promises and some them fulfill it but others don't. For me, it depends on the person. But if promises are not fulfilled, there are still other chances. We should still believe and never give up that in time, this will happen.

A very nice question indeed!
I still want to say that I still do believe in promises.Asking why did I say that...it's because it makes me happy and wait for that someones' promises to be done.
But a lot of people saying now that promises are made to be broken."is it really true"?My co-teacher told me that not to promise something to Koreans even if it is small thing that you think it is easy to give and then you forgot to do..I ask my co-teacher why not to say promise to them because if you didn't do your promises to them they got angry because they are waiting to that and can't forget that, but here in the Philippines it is okay to forgot that promises and you can do that some other time but to them it's different.100% they are mad and angry to you.And also there's a saying that it's better to see in your eyes first then believe.Always look in a positive way that the promises are sometimes a big help to others because they give them hope to others that somehow it will still come true..
And yes I still believe in promises...
