Hi friends.. How will you avoid mosquitoes from biting you? We all know that we get so many diseases due to mosquito bites.. and it spreads rapidly.. So what measures you take to save yourself from mosquito bites?
We tried many mosquito coils and liquids but was still no use so we brought a electrical bat similar to tennis bat which works better than other things..
So what is your idea please share..

There are so many ways how to avoid mosquitoes. Use mosquitoes repellents. Insect repellents are available in various forms and concentrations. Hmm, better use also screens, netting, long sleeves and slacks for better protection. Don't leave your container with water open to reduce mosquitoes.

Hi Chaitra,
If mosquitoes are there then I don’t think there is any possibility to avoid the bites. Coils, sprays, nets and bats etc can use only inside home. Are we sitting inside the home always? Not at all. I have seen some add about ayurvedic cream for mosquitoes, if we apply the same in our body then mosquito won’t bites us. I am not sure about the success of the same. If it works properly then it may be the best option.
Electrical bat is a good option to kill mosquitoes.

All coils sprays and liquids contain the same basic chemical poision in very low concentration though, the mosquito get resistant to them soon, the ultrasonic mosquito repellent produce sound that is unplesant to mosquito, but they soon get acoustumed , the bat you say produces a high voltage between the wire frames, if the poor insect gets trapped it gets burnt instanly..
best thing is burn some natural rosin, 'dhup' over dried coconot outer skin, you get lot of fume, show this in each room for 15 minutes with doors, wndows closed!!
tell me later..
Thank you so much.
Professor. . Cheers have a great day ahead.
God bless you. Welcome always.

Close all the doors and windows in the evening before you switched on the light. Mosquitoes enter inside when they see the light. If we close all the doors there is no way to enter them inside. Mosquitoes are attracted to lactic acid which our body release after eating salty and high potassium food. Avoiding such food is a way to keep the mosquitoes away from us. Wearing dark coloured cloth is another way for avoiding mosquitoes. If you wear light coloured cloth especially yellow, mosquito will be with you. Do you know one thing - women are more attractive to mosquitoes than men, because they like the female hormone called estrogen.

Well i think most have mentioned some of the most commonly used mosquito repellant. My suggestion would be to grow a mosquito plant, citronella, more practical and effective. It's just it's not that easy to do so here's the link.

Hi Dear Chaitra, since I am residing on a Stud farm there is no dearth of Mosquitoes. they not only bite the human beings but they attack the horses also. so it becomes a big head ache for us to get rid of these pests! Apart from getting irritations horses also can be infected with the mosquitoes as they are acting as Vectors in transferring the infection in he horses.
To kill these mosquitoes in a large scale in the big area of about 150acres we use foggers, which uses a chemical agent to emit a dense fog or smoke which is spread all over the farm when the fogger is taken to all the corners of the farm. Though this may kill lot of mosquitoes, the nearby mosquitoes enter the farm thus maintaining the population of theirs! So we have electrical insect killers for horses in their respective stables, to prevent the mosquito bite to the horses.
For us we have net doors and windows which keep mosquitoes away from us.But then while coming in and going out some are bound to get in and these in turn make our lives miserable. So to get rid of these e use chemical means in the form of Coils, tablets or liquid to check them. But it is seen that mosquitoes are developing resistance against these products now a days.
So I also aquired few Electrical rackets to tackle the situation , with these rackets and chemical agents along with one small insect repellent we are OK now!
Our laborers who are working on the horses use mosquito net when they are sleeping out side and I feel they are very comfortable with this arrangement!
The watchmen on night rounds make fire to emit some smoke to get themselves protected from these mosquitoes! Thanks for the discussion, it was an interesting one to participate in !

In our house, all windows have screens so that mosquitoes won't be able to enter but the house is still properly ventilated. Also, it is important to destroy their breeding grounds. These include vases especially those with water, any containers outside the house that may accummulate rain water, and dirty surroundings. With these examples, note that the Dengue mosquitoes breed in stagnant water. Also, there are those chemical repellants that you just plug in.
I hope these help. Happy myLotting!

Mosquito breeding has a lot to do with our environments. In hot and humid countries especially, that provides a good breeding ground for mosquitoes. Since we can't do much to change the weather or climate, we can only try our best not to aggravate the matter. For example, since we know that mosquitoes need water to breed, make sure we don't have stagnant water lying around in our homes, like water in flower pots ot vases. Also, clear out unused or unwanted clutter from our homes.

Use anti-mosquito lotion when you are outside. At home, put screens on windows and doors. That should solve your problem about those bugs!

The easiest way is to purchase a mosquito repellent for skin. But when it comes to clearing/minimizing mosquito in your area you can try planting citronella plant and eucalyptus plant in your garden or in a pot. It's really an effective way. Keep your surroundings clean and dump or flush out any stagnant water. Lighting a citronella candle in your house is an effective way too. I don't recommend fumigating often because it can really be harmful to our health.
