question about game designing

i have been thinking about making games i know games take time to make and learning the coding takes time to i have plenty of that. 1. what coding would be best for rpg and or games like diablo 1 which if our a gamer i am sure you know about if not you could search on youtube many videos will show up. diablo 2 would be another game but i would not make it online capable. 2. are there any game engines or programs that will aid me on my way to making games. i know about the rpg maker programs and such will help and has it so you can add your own programming to it so it adds some flexibility. any and all information will be appreciated even if it may look overwhelming i will just start small then. thanks in advance.
