What Part Does He Not Understand???

Our president goes on the television last night, says it doesn't feel good having the House taken away from the Democrats and now he thinks bi-partisanship should be the new rule for him and Congress. He's also pretty sure the only problem during the elections was 'the people didn't understand why he passed so many things that ran the deficit up.' They didn't know what an emergency he had on his hands. So, to ensure they realize EXACTLY what he's doing, he's taking a little vacation: It will costs us $2 BILLION because he's taking along 34 war ships (it's in a troubled part of the world.) He's hiring the WHOLE Taj Mahal hotel and he's taking along 3000 people. Why all this expense? So far, all he's said is he wants to see the Festival of Lights. Excuse me? $2 BILLION to see a Festival? He'll be meeting once or twice with some of the leaders, but he and his 3000 people and 34 warships are staying 10 days. The poor of Indian are being told to remove all coconuts from the trees so one won't accidentally hit him on the head. Then they are told to close up business in the areas where he might be. These people barely make enough to eat as it is and live in dire poverty, but our benevolent president is putting them out of work for 10 long days. He'd better hope they don't warehouse those coconuts to toss at his benevolent self! Forget greening the planet. He will have an entourage of 40 limos BEFORE his friends join the exhaust-spouting parade. Heaven knows how many planes it will take to get everyone there. For the money he's spending, we could bring the Festival over here! I think we understand EXACTLY what he's doing - ripping us off for everything his family can get while in the White House. ENOUGH OF THE RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE VACATIONS. Leave your friends and the war ships at home. Don't take anymore than you can cram into Air Force I. Go to the festival the day you arrival; turn around and come home. Go to your meetings using the computer programs invented for that purpose. It's a lot cheaper and I for one, would respect THAT decision.

If by vacation you are referring to his trip overseas this week, this has been attended by our presidents for several years and he needs to be there. You really need to do some research. 13 billion of that deficit you are refering to came from two wars, endless giveaways to Pharma, insurance and oil company's over the last 10 years. Not to mention the giveaway promice of billions by Bush his last two years to save Africa from Aids, noble maybe but not when you have two wars and tax cuts that were not paid for. I don't mind people complaining about our budget deficit but until we quit making it about the last year and grow up and realize that the policy's that put us in this problem are 30 years old and those are the problems that have to be resolved.

I am aware every president needs to attend these meetings, but how many of them took 3000 people with them along with 34 war ships? Yes, he is going to the meetings, but by his own admission, he is going on vacation, too. I tend to read many magazines, and newspapers and watch different channels on television for differing views of the news. You really might want to do some research before pooh-poohing this jaunt and returning to the tired old saw of let's blame Bush. Bush did most of his 'giving' when we had an unemployment rate of 4.6%, and most folks still had homes. The upswing in the deficit came along with the Democrats taking over Congress (who runs the purse strings) in 2006. Bush tried to warn the Dems that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were in serious trouble and should be checked into, but they, led by Barney Frank, ignored the facts, saying nothing was wrong. During Bush's terms, he not only had to deal with our country being attacked on our shores, but one of the worst hurricanes in many years, and going to war to stop us being attacked again. Legitimate reasons for spending. He succeeded in no more attacks, which is more than we can say in the last couple of years. We have been very fortunate, since at least three people attempting to bring bombs to our country have been stopped only because either the bombs didn't work or the carrier was too dumb to set it off. The last one was caught 17 minutes before exploding. Bush also tended to go to the meetings, stay maybe a day over and above the necessary time, and take the minimum entourage with him. His vacations were usually at his own ranch, thus saving money. He was also much more 'green' than our current president. If you check out the facts of Bush's ranch, you will find it has every ecological feature built in that was available at the time of building such as geothermal heat, a well, water catchers that clean up waste water and recycle it to water plants around the site, as well as rain water catchers. He even built the house of local limestone to preserve the trees. His 4000 sq. ft. house uses about 25% of the normal American home. Compared to Bush, our current president thinks he was given his own printing press when he came into office and he will soon be printing an additional trillion dollars and turning it into treasury bonds for other countries to buy. So, our dollar should drop in value once again.

I don't know haow many ships Bush took but like the current president he did not make those decissions. Those concerns are met by the folks doing National security. Bush took many over seas vacations after having meetings and once again no one vilified him for it. I will point out that most of Mr Bush's money to live the lifestyle he so enjoys was put in his pocket by Enron and the Carlyle group. The bottom line is until the main stream press quits discussing tripe like this we cannot have a conversation about policy's that are truly important.

The "Man-child" in the White House has tripled the deficit in less than two years in office. His policies have pushed unemployment to an unbearable limit, and he rejects every free market idea presented. The election was a sweeping mandate against the current regime. Not only on the national level, but 680 state seats were picked up by Republicans. The President also violated all Constitutional bounds by giving my money to banks and GM. He is a traitor and a thief. If the Republicans so much as flinch in his direction they will hear from the electorate and soon find themselves out of work also.

There's only one slight problem - this story is total BS, just another example of the conservative media's fiction. Pentagon Press Secretary Geoff Morrell : "I will take the liberty this time of dismissing as absolutely absurd this notion that somehow we were deploying 10 percent of the Navy -- some 34 ships and an aircraft carrier -- in support of the president's trip to Asia,” said Morrell at today’s Pentagon briefing. “That's just comical. Nothing close to that is being done." He acknowledged that a Presidential trip requiring security needs “should not come as a surprise to anyone” and that the Defense Department “does play a role in support of Presidential missions.” He said it was customary to not discuss such security requests, but “I made an exception in batting down this absurd notion of there being 34 ships, or more than 10 percent of the Navy, deployed in support of this trip. That is most certainly not the case.” http://www.sodahead.com/united-states/34-war-ships-to-accompany-obamas-visit-to-india/question-1317075/ Annie

Bill O'Rielly announced on his show that the story was traced to an "Unnamed source in India". From what he found out is that the military and Secret Service are very closed mouth about the cost and measures they take to protect the President. I think the White House should have simply announced that the trip was similar to other Presidential trips abroad.

Can't we just go to wally world and buy a bunch of lights and string them up all over the white house lawn for him? That would be a lot cheaper.
