Do you still wrap gifts?

I guess you could say most people I know are very laxed on wrapping things. If they wrap it, it's because it's in a small box. I dunno, I'm the sass who goes to the dollar store and buys a gift bag and tosses the items in there when it comes to birthdays. However when it comes to Christmas, much of it is not wrapped just has tags on it with their names. I know it takes away from the surprise but it saves me money in wrapping paper, time wrapping everything, and a bit less of a mess to clean up off the floor.
How about you my fellow myLotters have you given up on wrapping gifts the old fashioned way?

Aww I am a bit old fashion in this area as I still believe the wrapping makes for the better gift than the actual gift. So I go out of my way to wrap everything I give as gifts.
Almost like newspapers and paper printed books I need to still hold them to make for good reading.

jhi 3SnuggleBunnies I do not wrap anymore but just use the many gorgeous gift bags and put my gifts in then pretty colored tissue paper around and on top so the gifts will be a surprise to the receiver.
I do not think I am doing anything un christmasy in doing it this
'way at all. It still looks very pretty and too its convenient to
'carry for the giftee. lol lol lol

I wrap all presents up and always have done and all the presents me and my family give me are wrapped up too. I enjoy opening wrapped presents so i would never buy bags and tags instead of wrapping paper because it takes away the fun of wrapping it up.

oh, I don't mind wrapping gifts...
One year I wrapped mine, wrapped the roomie's, wrapped Maggie's, wrapped mom's, wrapped the other roommate's
I will probably be wrapping mine and the roommate's again this year, but I will get a bag to put mom's in because she can't unwrap them any more, she can't really pull them out, but with help she can do some of it...
hummmm... guess I need to wander out to the shed and find some wrapping paper
I had so much that while I've tended to buy one roll a year, I use up 2 or 3 wrapping and that much is out
I promise I won't buy any this year (yeah... right... if its purple or holographic all bets are off!)

we buy wrapping paper by the bundle. each design we can but 5pcs each much cheaper. my wife knows how to make this paper bag style so all we have to do is put it inside the paper bag she made out of gift wrapping papers. with nirthdays we just buy paper bags like you do but during chistmas we like it wrapped for the gifts are mostly for kids and kids love surprises. we also receive gifts that are not wrapped but it is okay we are adults, but my child always gets a gift that is wrapped.

I wrap my gifts with different colors and textures like an art depending on who is going to receive it. I think it would be more exciting and fun if I wrap my gifts. I even personalize it like putting short messages on it or make it like a puzzle. It's not all about the gift inside the box or the wrapper but the thought of making the person happy it doesn't matter if the gift is expensive or not. So I stick to the old ways just try to make it more interesting..
Merry Christmas Mylotters!

I love wrapping presents. If there is a way for me to wrap it and not put it in a sack, I'm going to find it. It just isn't much fun seeing someone open a gift sack and take the present out of the tissue paper or whatever. One can get pretty cheap wrapping paper at a dollar store, and the paper still looks good.

That is true I was going to get a gift bag tonight for a birthday party present this evening but due to putzy kids who when you tell them to put their shoes on they only hear the tv and wonder why I'm mad.
I loved wrapping gifts when I was younger as I loved to give gifts nowdays unless it's for one of my kids I don't give gifts much nor do I wrap them as they probably saw it when I bought it anyways.

Gave up? No, I never truly started! My wrapping is so bad, everyone knows who the gift is from. I am now the gift bag guru! No wrapping! No problem!

What? No! Lol I love to wrap things, even though I am not too good at it. I think that having the surprise of what it might be is the best thing. Of course usually now we ask for a few items and it's just about guessing "hmm could it be this, could it be that?" It's wrapping paper for Christmas and gift bags for any other holiday around here.

Hi, 3SnuggleBunnies. To tell you the truth, I don't even know how to wrap gifts at all. After watching my cousins for years, I still don't know how to wrap a single gift. Sorry... I usually will just put their gifts any beautiful gift bags and I will hand deliver it to them. It is mostly for my kids anyway. They are more thrilled with the gift itself rather than the wrapping paper. It is more easier to place the gift into the gift bag then it is to wrap a gift. I would love to wrap gifts because I have seen so many pretty gift wrapping designs and patterns that just have made me fall in love.

I wrap my gifts but in a very special way. I answered another post (so typical now that Christmas is near) about gifts and recesion.
I make jams, chutneys, sauces, you name it and give them away to the people I love. I recycle jars all year and then use them for my presents. Many of the jars have belonged to the same people I give them back to.
I wrap some jars (the smaller ones) in recycled gift bags I save from presents that other people have given me during the year. I´m also the cleaning lady of our Christmas done one year at one of my daughter´s home, the other year at the other´s. My grandkids throw away paper, ribbons, gift bags. I check and save some, put the rest in the garbage.Finders are keepers, so I take my bounty home along with my presents.
The biggest jard are usually not wrapped but I rescue some old material with flowers, cut a circle bigger than the top and use a rubber band to keep them there.

Hello,
Yes, I still wrap gifts for Christmas and birthdays. The only time I do not is when the present is too big. I like the colors and bows in the wrapping paper and makes the people excited because they do not know what is inside. I still get exctited when I get a wrapped gift.
Thanks and have a great day

For one i have to say i LOVE your picture we call my son linus lol but i would have to say when it comes to my sons birthday or christmas i do wrap the gifts. but when i was getting a gift for my friends daughter i found this really cool toy that the box for the toy turned into a gift box i acually didnt have to wrap buy a bag or anything. Not only does it save money but it saves paper. i like to buy green wrapping paper that is made by recycled paper. I would say now days it isnt just the money or laziness but its all of us being more aware of our over use of paper and im not a hippie or anything but i do like to think i helped the world just a little bit.

foe the kids, I wrap them becuase they like to figure out where to peel off the wrapper. If they get frustrated, they ran to me to peel off. For adults, a nice paper bag with a little extra inside does the trick.

i wrap all gifts. i think it adds to the fun of it all, esspecially for the children. although it makes a mess :)
i try to wrap things, then add them into a gift bag or gift sack. i love seeing the kids faces when theyre unwrapping the presents. i love watching them struggle in opening them aswell. it makes the joy of it all last alot longer aswell

I seldom wrap gifts today because I think at the end people will unwrap them and the wrapping paper will become to a waste. I want to do something good for our environment. So I don't want to create one unnecessary rubbish. It's fine that a gift is without wrapping. The inside is much more important, isn't it?:)

I love to wrap gifts! I hate those gift bags. Everything now seems to say "here is something for you but I didn't want to take the time to shop so it's a gift card and I didn't have time to wrap so I stuck it in this pretty bag." "I have no time for you" "Hurry up and get to it", etc.
I'm very old fashioned. I used to wrap while my children were at school and hide the presents for birthdays and Christmas and the Easter baskets, too. I'd be up late on Christmas night putting things together if I hadn't done it and wrapping it in some way to disguise it. Everything was wrapped in my house and what a beautiful mess it was!
I still wrap gifts before I ship them!

I love it! I can get really creative with it and am kinda sad when the paper is ripped open. :)

I'm really not the biggest fan of the disposable bags that you can give gifts in. Instead, I like to wrap the gifts for birthdays and for Christmas. I haven't started to wrap the Christmas presents that I've bought at this point yet, but I'm hoping that pretty soon I'll be able to get some pretty wrapping paper and tags to use this year and start getting my gifts wrapped up. I love nothing more than all of the wrapped gifts under the Christmas tree for Christmas.

Hi sweetie.
I love wrapping gifts.
it makes it so much more fun to wrap that gift so it will take a while to open.
I make sure that gift is wrapped in a lot of paper.
Gift bags are nice and all, but not for me.
TATA.
