empathetic doctors?

I just got in from an all day excursion to the clinic. I have two serious problems, one of which is COPD and the other is chronic pack pain. My back progressively worsens, and it has gotten to the point where the pain is extreme and continual. I went in today with the idea that I would finally convince this doctor of the seriousness of my problem, but I am sitting here now knowing that he still doesn't get it. It's not like I can change doctors, as I am with the VA and this doc is as good as any other. I haven't been able to do physical work for some time, and my ex has everything I could ever call an asset, so I am stuck with the VA. Guess I am looking for a sholder to cry on, but it just gets so frustrating! Does any one out there know where I am coming from?
