Will you want to be the first crew to go to the Mars?

Scientists say that in the next coming years they will send a crew to the Mars. They will be volunteers and settle down in the Mars. Since the cost is so huge and therefore it is a one way journey. Namely they won't go back to the earth again. They will regard the Mars as their new home and they will explore and research how to live there permanently. So one day some of the people from earth can live in the Mars, too. Will you join it? Although it sounds great for me and I am very interested in it, but once I remember I can't go back to the earth. I will be very sad since I will not be able to see my loved ones.

I'm too old, and even if I wasn't, they would expect some one with skills I don't have and a willingness to have children

Maybe not a one way trip to Mars, but SPACE. I've been a science fiction fan since I was in 8th grade, that was the year Star Trek premiered... 1966

considering that I don't have an adventurous bone in my body, my answer is no, it's not something I would want to do. I am hearing rumors that if we don't learn to live on other planets we will all perish with the earth.....but hey, we can always pray that's not for many many years from now. Marsha

Perhaps finding another planet will be a way out for the growing population and pollution.

hi youless oh no not me at 84 I would not want to go to Mars as I am not even sure anyone could live there. I had not heard anything about this planned trip. I can well understand the cost would be huge. I do not want to leave my beloved earth for a' chancy maneuver that might well fail at that.I would love to live long enough to see this Mars trip happen though.

I haven't heard anything about this, myself. I'm 58 years old and I might not be here any more when ths happens. You never know. I wouldn't want to go, especially if I couldn't come back. I remember the space shuttle explosion that happened in 1986 and I just wouldn't be interested.

Hi, youless! I don't think it can be a exciting trip under the current technological condition. It will take several years to reach the Mars, and during the trip it will be full of unknow danger. Everything must depend on yourselves. The most important, I think it's not sane to make such a one-way plan. A more feasible project is build permanent base and settlements on the moon, then build a large spaceship on the moon orbit. By using the speed of the earth revolution around the sun, the moon revolution around the earth and the spaceship's revolution around the moon properly, we can save a lot of fuel. Then we might make it a round trip instead of an one-way trip. That's more acceptable for me.

So this is a challenge trip and not many people are qualified to it.

The challenge is too big! Reaching the Mars is not the end. Can you imagine the life with only a few tens of people (may be even worse, only several people) in the lorn Mars world?

let America work on their lunar landing first. Everyone knows that the lunar landing in 70s was a big joke. First NASA needs to think about Moon. They will be able to think about Mars after 2050.

I doubt whether it is a joke or not. I think it will be terrible if it's a joke. I can't believe that a powerful country like USA will make such a joke in public.

I won't say anything about it, you may check youtube for this video and decide yourself: Documentary - Moon landing hoax - conspiracy theory - part (1)

Since it is a one-way ticket, I don't think that I will even consider being a volunteer to fly to the Mars. In a totally new environment that we are not familiar with, life can be extremely difficult. It can be imagined how life would be there in a new planet. Besides, I love my family and for sure I would miss my family a lot if I could not come back to the earth. Actually that is a way of testing how human beings can survive on the Mars to my understanding. Have a good day, youless.

It is too bad that it is the one way ticket, so I can't even think about this offer.

I believe there are many who like to explore new thing will like to go. And the they must have no family and do not have their loves one on earth. So that they can go there without thinking of any one on earth. I think many people are brave and want to be the first one or the pioneer to live in Mars, and I think this is also the way they can conquer the Mars and be the first human to be stay at Mars and they will own the Mars without being fight with other country.

Yeah! There will be a big headache to the immigration officers about the unusual migration to Mars. Let's see how the way these people is going to handle it. Recently, there are around 400 people in the United States were rushing to register for participating the first batch of human-beings to migrate to the Mars. For me, I never have such intention to join in. First of all, I shall miss everything which I am familiar with in this earth. Secondly, it is too risky to explore myself to a totally new place. Finally, not everyone has such good physical as astronaut to travel in the space. Since I were born here, I must die here.

I do not think I could go because of my family, but if I did not have any family I would be the first one to enlist to go. I would live there, anything is better than this world

Generally, the space-men are exceptionally well-prepared professionals and a person, who is not trained well enough like them could not endure the whole process. As I am from the second sort people (like 99.99% people in the world :-D) I don't think I want to be part of the first crew, which will go to Mars!

No way. Those who will will probably die there without anyone knowing about it. Before they send anyone there, they should first construct necessary amenities there like malls, supermarkets, roads, schools, houses, etc. It is not as easy as that. Sending people there and making them worry about how they will survive there is cruelty. How about sending all the murderers and killers there first, especially those scheduled to die so we will not be hurting and losing good people?

Yes, this journey is full of dangers. But some people don't mind to sacrifice for the human beings.
