...and my husband has agreed to give it to me for Christmas.
I was on eBay looking for something totally different, when I decided to look around a bit. One of the first things I came across was an old record autographed by Vice Vukov, one of the greatest voices (and politicians!) to come out of Croatia. This is an album of Italian songs which I have on mp3, but I collect records too. I certainly could not resist this one.
Attached is the picture of the autograph from eBay. My husband placed the winning bid, and it arrived today. He's saving it to give me for Christmas, and I'm sooo excited. Now we just need to get our record player fixed. Hubby knows how to fix a record player, it's just hard to find the parts anymore, as the record player we have was made in the 60s.

Thanks. I think I'll do that. My husband is a great deal older than I am, and knows how to fix a record player. ;)

That's pretty cool, my parents still have their record collection and it's great to hear that people are still buying the format. It makes a very special present! For me it's like getting retro games, so I can really relate to this. I couldn't see the image anywhere though, is it in your profile Danishcanadian?
Congrats on the gift, does your husband know what you've got him yet?
Happy mylotting,
~Joey

That is an awesome find and I'm so happy for you! Sometimes I think that if you know what you're getting for Christmas, it takes the fun out of it but this story of yours shows that it's just the opposite. I can see you being so very anxious for Christmas to come because you'll get that record you want so much. It's a shame that you won't be able to play the record, though.
Maybe your husband can find the parts needed to fix the record player before Christmas? I wouldn't know where to start looking for parts like that unless you could find someone who buys/sells old record players. I would think they'd have a ready supply of old parts from the ones that couldn't be fixed.
A few years ago, I bought one of those record players that is also a CD player and cassette tape player. It's one of those things where you can record one from the other. I actually wanted it to turn all of my sister's vinyl records into CDs for her because she was in a nursing home with only a CD player, not a record player.
The price of those things has come WAY down from where they started. I got mine on sale for $150.00 but I've seen them now for $99.00 and under. Hmmm, now that I'm thinking about it, how about looking on Ebay for old record players? From what I've heard, you can get just about anything you could possibly want on Ebay.

Forgot to load the image, and one can't post a response to their own discussion unless commenting on another response, so Leah asked me (her husband) to log in and post the picture. Here it is! :)
