I have watched many contest where they give comments to the person who have just performed. Sometimes they receive negative comments where they can learn from it. Some judges gives a positive comment but they tell the performer to practice more on singing or dancing.
In our everyday lives people we talk to gives their opinion or their comment on everything you are talking about. Do you believe that one comment can make a difference?

If we are in a contest, yes we should certainly accept whatever opinion from the judges gives to us. It will help us grow and learn from them too.

You have a point too. We have differences too and we may understand a certain discussion differently.

I think all comments make a difference, especially those comments that are quite judgmental on the person because it sticks in the persons mind for awhile and even forever depending on what was said. I think its good to comment on performances but you do have to be careful how you say it because if you are too hard on the person it may stop them from achieving other dreams in the future.

You have a point there, yes, we should be very careful. AS for this discussion, when I was in music school I really hear a lot of comments when I sing. Good comments to be specific, even the judges are impressed but one of my teachers doesn't like it. She make me feel that I'm always doing the wrong move, placement, and intonation. I have three teachers and she's the only girl. I know she just want me to improve more but the way she talks to me, it's like she doesn't want to see me at all. She really guides me when I perform and tell me not to get nervous. But after the performance, I'll hear bad comments from her and my other two teachers always tell me that I'm doing great.

I think it really depends on how you take the comments. Comments will remain comments unless you consider them as either constructive or destructive to you. You can just ignore them if you want. Even how good or bad the comments are, they won't matter if you don't mind them. Although, at times, we mind the comments especially if they come from people we respect and dear so much.

Yes, if we don't really pay attention to it, nothing will happen. Just listen and forget, or listen to the positive and negative and balance them both. It is a way to improve ourselves, and it can make us be successful in the future. Better listen to the people we really know us and people we respect too. They are the ones who really knows us.

hello ellyse! well, for me,comments do make sense when it comes to our daily lives.
it can help us realize things we never know or notice. or it may be a way to improve ourselves more. just like in a contest. judges are there to criticise or make their own comments about what they have observed. it's better t accept all of them andlearn to see and make a difference within yourself. it's all up to you what to believe in when it comes to others comments.

yeah, me too. Comments are important. Many of us hear different kinds of comments and we also read about it everyday here in mylot. It's one way to help ourselves and others to improve and to keep going on the things they chose to do. But in the end we are the one who needs to decide, if we listen or not.

Yes I believe so. We should take it maturely and learn from it. However, we should also use our good judgement and wisdom when someone throws a comment on what we do, our efforts. Before we take it in, we should first evaluate -- is that comment aligned with my goals, my values..etc? We cannot please everybody. If we just blindly follow comments from others without regard to our own will, then we're in for a miserable life ahead.

Exactly, that's what I'm talking about. We should also see the negative and positive side of each comments before we indulge in it. We are the one making our own path hence many people are helping us to reach our goal, many may criticize us. We should know how to follow the path that is right.
