"You smiled and talked to me of nothing ...

...and I felt for this I had been waiting long". This quote (Rabindrath Tagore) was on a calendar I had a couple of years ago. Along with one from Mother Theresa, I pasted it on card and laminated it to stick on my wall. Today, I have been fortunate enough to have had this fulfilled again. I visited my son and we spent over 10 hours just enjoying each others company and talking about nothing in particular (& yet everything) Are you a person of few words or are you happy to talk for hours. Do long conversations irritate/bore you or delight you? Does it depend upon who you are talking to?

I have had a bit of a fall out in my family with older daughters, what I would really like is for us all to sit down and have a really good chat together so that things can not be twisted and taken the wrong way. I am feeling pretty down really with the whole family thing!

Oh, I am really sorry to hear that. Its easier to get the true meaning of your words across face to face isnt it. You can usually see in the other persons face, the way they mean you to take their comments and the interaction is instant but things can be so easily be misinterpreted in emails/texts/phone calls. Hope things work out ok with your daughters as I know how much you care for them and how proud of them you are

Yes... Oh, I guess you want that explained. I do enjoy long conversations, and they will either bore or delight me depending on who I'm talking with (and who is doing the most talking!)

Oh, I disagree, it isn't the person, its the subject!

In corporate training, it tends to be both The only one I didnt find myself drifting off in was the "Conflict resolution" where the guy was a good speaker and made the subject interesting by not just droning on with statistics. I got the chance to role-play the "stroppy customer"... & loved it!

Yes, there are some people that make you just switch off... like the ones who do the corporate training

I really like long conversations with meaningful people. But if someone who is pretentious or something is talking forever then, I'd get bored too. It's a gift when we can find a person to have beautiful conversations with.

Indeed it is a precious gift. Its wonderful to be so relaxed in someone's company that you can talk about pretty much anything and never feel that one or other is dominating the conversation... you just sort of 'bounce' off each other.

Yeah, that's the relationship with my sis. I'm lucky to have that because some people don't get to experience this.

Hiya Wizz, Depends on who the conversations are with. It would really all depend on that. I prefer shorter chats myself but lot´s more chances to talk later on with the same People about other things. In a long chat you can easily miss out what you wanted to say in the first place. So I would say that normally I am a person of few words but I do like to chat for a short while. Again it´s the company you´re in and what you are talking about too.

Yes, I see your point there... I hadnt set out to talk about anything in particular so nothing was really left unsaid... but, I suppose, after that long a conversation there wouldn't be

Hiya Wizzy, Well I have not a had a long conversation with anyone today nor do I want to. I just feel like being on my own to think things over. So I have not said much to anyone in particular today in this House that is. On here it´s been a different Story.

I think we are perhaps more self-conscious about expressing our opinions at certain times in our lives. We probably all have times of insecurity.
