What if everyone was given a set word allocation...

If each person was only allocated a set number of words to speak in their lifetime, would yours have run out yet? Supposing the 'sound battery' in your voice box ran out after you'd spoken a set number... how much life would still be in your battery?? I think mine would have run out years ago

I think I am a good listener and not such a good talker. I find it much easier to express myself more clearly in written word than when I am talking. So I think my voice allocation would be safe. I would have more than enough batteries in my voice box to get me through life.
I just spent the weekend as the organiser of a sporting event and one of the competitors drove me nuts with his ability to talk. It was so hard to get away from him. He loved to voice his opinion on anything and everything, including talking himself up regularly! I wish he had an allocated number of words, because he would have run out years ago!

After being the centre of attention all last weekend, being a public speaker and being asked question after question. I am looking forward to a nice quiet family weekend this weekend!
Maybe I will be silent all weekend!

I spent a period of time as a youngster not talking at all, so I might be safe...

Actually, someone told me I wasn't speaking proper Polish, so I decided to not talk at all.

My vocal chord can command a battalion, loud and clear. And my chatter, never mindless, include even the peddler on the street, not just to the chancellor of a university. Considering I am that irrepressible talker, mine would have ran out, too!

Hiya Wizzy,
When I was small I never said very much either. It was not until I was about Sixteen when you had to talk more because of your Job that I did begin to say somethings.
There have been long periods in my life when I have thought it best not to say anything at all.
They were unspoken thoughts but I never said them to anyone or to the People concerned. Given my chance now I would be the opposite and I would tell them everything to their Faces and maybe then "My Batteries" would run down a little bit.
Think I still have some Battery Power in there somewhere. I just have´nt got a Meter to measure it.

Hiya Wizzy,
You worry about hurting others and putting your foot in it? Perhaps you are hoping that they might say the unspoken things first before you do?
Of course if they were to mention those things that you want to talk about before you it would make it easier for both of you or all of you concerned.
As Families we can be so complicated sometimes. I was so uncomplicated but they were hell bent on being complicated so that´s it.
Even now I still have Batteries left yes they keep going like Duracell (grin).

Well, If I had to deal with such a thing then I could honestly say that mine is probably would have about 1/3 still there..because I haven't talked to many or much. Except to family..unless it counts through typing the words like I am..now if that was the case..I would have been all out the first year here at mylot..

I was born in 1972 and am pretty sure that my set word allocation would have run out no later than 1975. Like most young children, I would have used up the quota very early on with repeated use of the word "why?". Thank goodness I went green soon after that and decided to use solar powered battery back-up. As long as there's daylight hours in this world, I've got a steady stream of verbosity comin'!
