I'm alive, I could be dead right now.

I was seconds away from losing my life tonight. Want to know why? Despite starting to walk across the street on a GREEN light, I almost got hit by a bus driver who blew through a red light. I had just started to cross the street when a horn blasted and I looked to my left. All I saw was headlights of a bus that had blasted through the intersection. The driver slammed on the brakes, started to swerve and I panicked, not knowing which way to run. I was almost frozen in place, absolutely terrified for my life. The strange thing is, just before the light turned green for me, I thought about someone running the light and wondered what would happen if I'd gotten hit. Sure enough, that's exactly what happened, with the exception of being hit. After getting back on the sidewalk, the driver stopped and shut off the engine. I was sitting on the ledge of the lamp post by then, shaking like a leaf, but the driver didn't bother getting out to see if I was ok. I sat there, just freaked out beyond all belief, wondering what I would have done if I'd been hit. A cop, one I'm sure actually saw this had driven by and was gone already. The worst thing about this is that I had seen all the traffic stopped at the light, so I don't know where the bus came from. And it was an unmarked bus, so there was no way to report the driver, who had passengers on board. Now I'm scared to cross the street, wondering if anything will ever happen when I do. The only reason this happened tonight was because the ride that I was supposed to get never showed up and I had to take the bus home. If my ride had shown up, then I would not have faced this situation, nor would I be so terrified.

This happens here too. I hate when people think that just because the light turns orange they can keep going but when green I blow my top. It's not what you expect and I've seen bus drivers here who think they're above the law themselves and it's just crazy. Sorry to hear about this incident, you must be wondering where you are safe what with this and your friend who drives you around. Hopefully things have started to settle for you, awhile back I nearly got ran over while walking on the side walk here. If it wasn't for a last minute turn I would of been plowed straight into a fence if not further. I've had issues with cars stopping as I am crossing but I have never experienced what you have mentioned here. I would go nuts at the bus driver! I hope you gave him a little stick yourself.

From where I come from, red light is not that reliable anymore. We still need to look to our left and right to see if there is an oncoming car especially at night. But I find it strange that the bus you mentioned is an unmarked one.

Those traffic lights are there for a reason. Way too many people try to run the light. It's bad enough when no one is crossing at the time, but when someone is actually there on the road at the time the vehicle does that, then there is a problem. So glad you weren't hit!

I had a car accident 3 years ago and I haven't fully gotten over it. In fact, it was 3 years ago this month.

If the same thing happened in my area means , the driver would have got so many slapping by my friends even if the mistake was mine !

This happens to me all the time where I live. Worse is people who don't look when they are waiting to turn left, and come so close to hitting me as I push a stroller with my baby in it! Nobody seems to pay attention when they drive anymore. Hello! Can you please realize that when you are piloting two tonnes of moving metal at 80km and hour, you have to PAY ATTENTION?!
