When you learn another language, you get a great knowledge not on just words and sentences, but another culture too. when you study this language you will study the history of the people that speaks that language and the geography of the country and much more. with English it is much more because English is a "universal language", when you study it, you will study a lot of things, and when you read something in English, you know that the same thing can be understood every where in the world because English is a language that is spoken everywhere. you can see that the language of the internet and manuals and so on is English, now a days I don't think that know how to speak English is a plus, it was in the past, today we have to know, because if we don't, we will be in the past, we will loose a lot of things. I do all possible to learn English because I know that my future depends of this. and because I love English too. have a nice day

I learnt English because it is compulsory in school. As for the benefits, I guess being the universal language, communication which people from other country is easier. Also, it helps when I am overseas and need to talk to people.

It's a universal language and makes it easier for anybody from different countries to communicate and understand each other. I couldn't imagine myself in a foreign place where people couldn't speak English and all I have to do is to make sign languages which will probably make it hard for us to understand with each other. It will surely be frustrating.
