Okay this question came to mind while watching. Bill hicks and his Satan in music routine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_69yvFZH9U skip to 2:48 to hear the part.
He brings a question what could oppose God's Will?
In the Bible and it is common to hear people who follow Christianity in one of its many forms to say. Let Gods will be done. And in the Bible God's Will truly rules supreme when he makes a call. So what do you think could the Devil really exist? If it would mean being able to Break or go against God's will. Then God would have to be limited in power. Which would logically come that God isn't all powerful.

In a nutshell: God is allowing Satan and wickedness to exist for a time period to allow us to see what happens when we ignore God's direction. When the allotted time period is over God will dispose of both Satan and wickedness. Eventually God will undo all the harm that Satan has done.

I don't think this means the deity is limited in power at all, just that he chose the better option which was to create rational beings rather than to not ever endow thinking ability. The Pandora's box is that with thinking ability comes the ability to choose.. Yet that's surely better than being some sort of unable to think creature or robot..

God is all powerful, but He has given mankind the freedom to choose to do right or wrong. God has given all of us the ability to resist the devil, so if we don't resist him we have no one to blame but ourselves.
The devil does exist and he has incredible powers of persuasion, but he cannot make us do anything. He tempts us to do wrong, but he can't make us do wrong. We do wrong when we yield to his temptation instead of resisting him.

I believe that if there is one then there is another and neither is all powerful because whether or not the "devil" can get us humans to do his bidding is entirely up to us. Yes I believe there is something mischievous in this world that wants people to do wrong and I know there is a God who is powerful but there is just a fine line between the two and whether we let one or the other influence us is actually up to how strong willed and religious we actually are. If you let the evil in and do something bad do you really believe it is because God wasn't all powerful or is it just that you had a slip and made a mistake?

ivansama: A question. Why do you respond to religious discussions?what are you actually contributing to them,it seems all you do is mock believers, make outrageous statements as if you were privvy to some outside information as to whether God exists or not.it's not enough for you to say you just don't "believe" in him or you "question" his existence.and if this is the case ,which it obviously is. i would suggest you look for discussions where the posters mostly agree with you.isn't that your objective anyway?

If God is all powerful, then God would eliminate the devil. Either God lets the devil causes trouble, the devil is blamed for all bad deeds even if the devil had nothing to do with it, the devil is more powerful, or God can't eliminate the devil. Maybe God can create but can not destroy. I heard the devil was an angel who wanted to be a deity just like God but god won't let him so banish the devil to hell.

God's power is not limited. But it doesn't mean that He uses his power to force us into things we don't want. He gives us choices. That is His character. God is all powerful. He allow us to be able to break or go against His will. He allows it. God thought are higher than our thought and His ways are higher than our ways. Whatever His reason is. There are things only God knows why He does things. But i believe all things work together for good. No matter how ugly or dark things are....everything is significant and happens for a reason. All works for His purpose.

I don't personally believe in god in this form. I think good is good and evil is evil. There is a balance and a fine line. Everything has to have an opposite.
