yes..just a bit too. I just play it for fun and relaxation- a hobby of mine. To be better, you need to practice and practice and really love what you're doing. A brand of guitar would be one that's famous for it; and make sure you are comfortable using it. GOod luck

Well,I'm a guitarist as well.Getting advanced requires lots of practices and strong basics.I suggest that you take up a few chords, and try to play them. Not just play, but try to remember. Then, try on the power chords.Power chords are usually simpler than the usual guitar chords and almost sound the same.To learn fast, try to play some easy songs that have tabs, and I recommend you to use ultimate-guitar.com.Regarding the brand of the guitar, try to pick up an ordinary acoustic guitar first and if you can play really well, try playing the electric guitar.Acoustic guitars sound almost the same, but for electric guitars, you need to be aware of the hardware(pickups) they use.For basic electric guitars, you can pick up the cheap China ones. And by the way,I can play the guitar but to be frank, not that well. They are a few songs that I can play well and down for the others.Actually,I rather go for the bassist position.Cuz' I played bass since I was 12.Hope this helps!

What brand of guitar you should buy.....it depends on what type music you play and what kind of sound you want from your guitar.Metal musicians mostly use jackson ,ESP etc.. on the other hand rock and blues musicians are fond of gibson, fender etc.

first make sure you do love music, for it will fuel your desire to practice hard..learning something takes a lot of time specially a complex art like guitar playing, yes its a complex one but its not that hard, all you need is a guitar and a brain a lot of time to spare..the possibilities are endless if you explore..i have been playing since high school but the progress was slow until i learn how to practice regularly with the right mind set and right info..understand the basics first, for it will open up a lot of things in you..most of all enjoy...watch guitar lessons on you tube,it will help a lot..

If you want to be an advanced guitar player I recommend getting a mentor or teacher. Make sure you tell your teacher of what musical goals you want. Depending on what style you play like classical or shredding those will probably differ. It would be a good idea to get a guitar for your style of playing. I would get a guitar that you like of course sound/look wise.

I have a classical guitar that I have neglected, though I did put new strings on it (finally) a month or two ago after over a decade of ignorance.
What level of playing are you at? Do you already have a cheap one and want to upgrade to a better sounding one? I fear I am not a professional, but I suspect it depends strongly on the type of music you want to play.

No, I don't play guiter, though I do like the music very much. One musical instrument that I have been dreaming of learning to play is the harp. I am pretty much addicted to harp music. The sound is so enchanting and beautiful. I have not made it yet, but I am still hoping I can learn to play the harp some day.

It's very difficult to suggest a type of guitar. It's not that there are so many of them but that each person's taste is different. I like Alvarez or Yamaha. However, some people do not care for those brands. A lot also depends on what sound you desire. Each has its own feel too and that varies for each player and their preferences.

Hi anot_rf,
I think playing guitar is enjoyable and fun. I do love to know how to play but it is difficult for me. I have little fingers and I have a hard time pressing the strings that is why I gave up learning. For now, I love listening to those guitar accompanied music like acoustic. For buying a guitar, you just need to take some time to search online for some advises and tips on what guitar you can have best at a price you can afford. Also, you have to shop around and see various works of guitar and see if it fits your style, taste and budget. Take time to select the best that you can have so you can have the guitar as you like it. Have a good time playing those strings.
