Hi friends,
With increasing pollution of thermal generated power,We started generating Renewable energy resources for power generation. Fewer wind power and solar power plants,as the cost of production is high currently with wind and solar most of the countries are still not going for it.
Hope in future we will have the main line of energy sources produced by wind power and solar energy. What do you think

I have seen wind mills producing electrical energy in Nagercoil, Udumalpet in Tamil Nadu. I also understand that we have more wind mills in Gujarat.
Future depends on wind mills, and also nuclear power generation. But Koodankulam nuclear plant is in problems on account of protests. let us see what happens.

If you care about the environment, you'd better hope not.
It takes 4 semi trucks per turbine to get the parts to the field where they will be erected. These are trips by trucks that wouldn't already be done, so it is an increase in petroleum fuel consumption.
Power plants that accept power from wind turbines spend most of the times producing energy from burning coal. When the wind turbines are running, the coal fires are still kept burning (albeit at a much lower rate) because the wind turbine can't produce enough energy to meet the need. When the wind turbines aren't producing, the power plants have to burn a lot more coal to heat up to the point that they are producing up to demand. This burns a lot more coal than if they just kept it burning at a constant rate.
In other words, the way it's done now, using wind power to "supplement" the coal power plants is actually causing more coal to be burned to produce the same amount of energy.

Shouldn't the "alternative" actually decrease the need for petroleum and coal instead of increase it (as wind power as currently utilized does)?

Hello calpro. I think that it is possible for countries to use wind to produce energy in the future. Now in our country solar energy is used a lot. Many families are using solar energy and have them installed on the roof of the house, which saves a lot of electricity. It is very convenient and economical to use it. It is very popular with people. Take care.

I think there will be lots of different types of alternative fuels in the future. I think probably wind and solar will be the first that are switched to but who knows what might be next!

This is very true. I hope we can really concentrate on these sources in the future. It will help us all in the long run!

judging by the number that are in my area, I think that they will be a strong source of energy, but it is too unpredictable. What if there are days where there is no wind, the power grids would have to shut down. Sun is a bit more reliable especially if you pick a place that has 350 days of sun a year, and the solar panels are a bit more affordable than a wind farm. I would like to see more countries adopt cleaner energy. I would really like the nuke plant, that is less than 10 miles from my house, to become obsolete.

It is an important source of energy ,there is no doubt in it but it will be more useful if someone finds a way to make the windmills work in all conditions

To my understanding, I think that people are pushing for solar power, because the Sun is nearly constant and wind power is unpredictable... either way, I'm sure that when things become dire, money won't be an issue anymore... (I am hoping this will be much farther in the future).

In India solar power is not used more though solar energy available is more in India than USA.(?) Area available is more in USA but most part of the year you have snow fall and winter. You can see sun more only for 4 months or so.
We depend mostly on thermal and hydro power energy. good day.

No. Because the the simple fact is that our civilisation is oil based. Oil powers those aircraft and ships that move food and goods around the world and that movement is essential to the continuing existance of our civilisation. You can't power a transport aircraft on any form of renewable energy nor easily replace the thousands of oil powered cargo ships that bring the food and goods from all over the world. To say nothing of all the millions of oil powered trucks that move the goods to keep your local shop supplied so that you can just stroll in and buy.
Just go into your local shop and see how much of the goods on sale have come from outside your country or even from outside your local area. All those goods got there in oil powered vehicles and none of the renewable energy sources so far proposed are capable of replacing that use of fossil fuels.
There's nothing wrong with using wind, solar or whatever means to generate extra electricity, but renewable energy exponents focus too much on that and ignore the wider picture of energy use which I have outlined above.

I don't think it will the "the" future source of energy. I do think it will be one of many, which when used together will help to push towards a world where fossil fuel based power is less and less necessary. It is too unpredictable and geographically limited to become the biggest source of power generation.

think the wind will be one of the future sources of energy, but not the only one and probably not the most important. There are places where wind is enough to make it worthwhile, but it doesn´t ppen everywhere in the planet.

I do think that there are alot more people out there that do consider it a great way for the enviroment, also i know a person that also has a small wind thing in their garden as well as solar panels on their roof,as it is suposed to save money in the long run.We were going to get solar panels on our roof, but at the time they were not worth having.

Converting all power is a big huge step. I don't think that it will happen for quite some time. Not to mention the power companies have to want to change and it can't hurt their wallets in the process or they will never agree.

I think wind and solar power can be good sources but the cost of production and weathers are main hurdles in this regard. I think there is a lot of research going on hydrogen production, which is abundant every where in the world in form of water. It is out of question whether we can get energy from hydrogen or not because it is now proved that we can get more energies that a nuclear plant only by hydrogen. Now scientist are trying different way to reduce the cost of production and I think in near future we shall be able to reduce its cost and it ll be available for energy production.
I hope best for Hydrogen...
