Okay, I'm probably getting an android phone by the end of this year...
and I'm behind the technology...
So I want to ask:
can I surf the android market using Wifi?
Will it be okay if I don't subscribe to a data plan? ... well, most places that I'll be going has WiFi ...
You're welcome to add additional information regarding androids... ^^
thank you!

Most Android phones support Wifi, so yes, you should be able to do that. Note however, there are a few different version of Wifi out there. The latest is Froyo or Android 2.2.
Previous version only allows you to install your software in the main memory (by default, unless you root it).
It is not necessary to have a data plan with Android.

Well you can surf the android market with wifi.
But I don't think you need to have a data plan for wifi if you are just leaching some of the free wifi out there.

I have an Android phone, and it a smartphone, which does need the data plan, and wifi, so you can use wife while using the market. Now, when it comes to the datat plan, if you buy a smartphone, you are required to have a data plan. Not all phones will have the data plan, so if you don't have a smartphone, then you won't need the data plan. Since I have the smartphone, I do have the data plan, and I am glad for that as well, as I do enjoy browsing the internet with it. I would suggest you check out Android phones, to see which one is best for you, since they are all different and have different features as well. Take care, and have a very good day.
