well for me ,it is because social networking sites aims to promote multipy, unity, friendships, though we differ in cultures and beliefs,The " like" is a way of appreciating that work, content to what others have posted...a positive statement of being friendly....

I agree with acey.
I think it's because Facebook, being a social networking site, is created mainly for the purpose of socializing. That being said, we are supposed to make friends from there and not make enemies. :)

If face book did decide to add a dis-like button, It could increase the problem of cyber bullying, witch we all know is a serious problem for many kids and even adults in todays world.
Plus on youtube the content some one posts is available to everyone, while on face book only family and friends, or even friends of friends. So youtube it is more creative criticism, while on face book it would be just mean.

Yeah, right. Lets ask the admin/owner of facebook to put that. Maybe they some reasons of not putting it or maybe they are waiting for some users to request for it. Oh I am not really sure.

We don't know the reasons and those reason are only known to the creator of the Facebook. But to share my own idea, I do believe the social networking site Facebook is trying to create a social site which is positively-driven. I mean, by omission of the dislike button they tend to minimize dispute, quarrel, hatred, fight and unnecessary comment. It is in us as users... Do you like to receive a dislike on your post? I think not, like everyone does...I think they go for the common agreeable feature, that is to use only the like button. This is what I share...
