During my childhood days, my mother teach me to prepare my things ahead of time.
As, I need to prepare my things before I sleep in the evening to avoid the morning rush the following day.
How about you fellow mylotter, do you also do this? Does your mother also trained you to prepare your things ahead of time or do you also prepare your things before you sleep to avoid the morning rush?

I set out my clothes for the week, sunday night. I pair my pants and shirts and make sure I have enough nylons. I put 5 outfits on hangers for my child as well, but sometimes she goes through more than one outfit in a day. My husband is on his own. He is a big boy and can make sure that he has enough clean underwear and the like. I also make my lunch the night before. Alot of times it is just left overs, like tomorrow will be potroast and veggies from dinner tonight.

I've done this only if I have to get up early to go somewhere and I only have limited time in which to get ready and to make and eat breakfast. In that case, I'll prepare some things the night before to save time in the morning. But normally I don't bother to do this as I have plenty of time in the morning.

Until I retired I always prepared my things at night. In the morning my brain does not wake up immediatly. I need my morning coffee and my shower to properly wake up. So I feel a lot more relaxed by doing al that beforehand. I still have some rituals like rechecking in I put my house´s keys in my purse and the car´s documentents.

My parents did not teach me to prepare things before to be rushed in the morning but I thought of it myself because I wanted to be able to sleep more and not get rushed so yes, I do prepare things the night before so I won't be rushed :)

Yes, same story here. My mother teached me in prepare things they day before. So I always find my clothes, and put it on my chair. I put my schoolbooks in my bag, so I'm ready for school too. I think it's great, that i do this, because now I don't have any morning rush at all. I only need to eat breakfast, brush my teeth, take clothes on and do my hairstyle.

You know my mother must have taught me that because I remember in elementary school always laying out my clothes before going to bed that I would wear to school the next day. I do not do that now but if I am going somewhere and have to get up early and go I make sure to pack up what I will need in my purse or diaper bag for the next day. That saves me time in the morning.

Yes, my mom trained me to prepare things like this. But As I grew up, I lived away from them, I worked and feed myself on my own. Now, I am not doing it because after work I got a lot of things to do. I can't prepare what to cook for my breakfast, what to wear, what sandal or shoes. Things get busy and i just realized I need to manage my time to more organized. Now that I have read this post, I would like to thank you why? Because you remind me to do it again. Have a blessed day!

I'm working on preparing my kids for this. I hate the morning rush very much, especially when no one is willing to do for themselves and thinks I have the time to help everyone. My middle is the worst, she is such a hard sleeper she is difficult to get up in the morning nonetheless get her ready for her day.

I guess so. I always make my coffee before I go to bed so all I have to do in the morning is to push the button! I don't have to fumble around with it. Then on the nights before a race I always get all my stuff together. I also sleep in my race clothes... started that with my first race and just kinda kept doing it!

Every mother teaches her daughter good things but not all girls practice what their mother teaches them. It is nice of you to follow you mother's advice. I too have the habit of planning for he next day which really helps you to finish your chores on time giving you ample leisure where you can pursue your interests like mylotting. The day I am busy and cannot chalk out the next day's program I find it very difficult to complete even cooking on time. So it is indeed a very good practice to plan your day one day in advance.
Happy mylotting.

When I was under my parents care I was guided to do prep the night before and it stayed with me throughout my adult years. It does not take much for me to get ready as nowadays things are so automatic, like my coffee pot in the morning. Laundry is done Saturday evening and Sunday meal I cook enough to put some in containers to take to work the next day. So yes, I prepare moreover to have that 15 or 20 minutes before going out the door to have some quality time with myself before getting into the morning traffic.

Yes I was taught the value being organised. As a child I always prepared for school the night or weekend before. Anything I was going to do I was taught to prepare before hand. As you pointed out it surely does help avoid the morning rush and I find I can always have a few minutes extra in bed to relax and mentally prepare for the day.

For me, it depends how my preparation will gonna be and what time I will need it. If it is too early, yes it needs to be prepare at night if there is still time in the morning, I make it early morning. Sometimes when I am just too tired, I will not be able to prepare anything else before going to sleep and that's why I need to set an alarm clock and do everything the next morning. But I make sure that I review it earlier, what are the things I needed most. Because you see, if there are certain things you need to buy or prepare and it is not available in night time before you go to sleep, you will also get in trouble. If I am going to a long travel or will be in a place away from home, I do the preparation in advance and even plan it more ahead in time. Nobody wanted their relaxation or vacation got ruined by a unplanned action or packing.

Sometimes. If I teach in the morning, I get up earlier and prepare everything. but sometimes I forget too. I still laugh at myself how I forgot to bring some files from the company where I had classes to my boss at the outsource where I got the project from. It was just a few hours after the world Cup final, I didn`t sleep again because it was already in the morning, so I had breakfast and took a bathe. then after I arrived at the office, I realized that I had forgotten to bring that file, and....thaks GOD my office is about 10 minutes from home, then I rushed back home. MY boss smiled at me and said"Please read it before you submit it to me, and don`t forget anything again". LOL. My mom asked me"you forget something?", the my little nephew asked"why are you going home?". Oh, no!!I will never do that again..I mustn`t forget anything again.

Hi Airasheila!.
Its already become to me to prepare all my need for tomorrow today so I will not forget something. If you do any thing in rush you will forget something and its maybe fatal if the thing you forget its really important, its will take much time to take it again from home.

yes,i do know that attitude or habit, but there are times i don't feel like moving and getting prepared so i rush every morning to prepare for things which is too bad,i can say! it's still better to be prepared than waste your time roaming around to places to search for something you have to use within the day. it feels like you do get irritated and disgusted early in the morning, which is not a good idea at all. so better prepare early than ruin the first hours of your day.

I am a person that usually doesn't prepare everything for the next day. But I don't sleep unless everything is settled. It helps when you practice to prepare everything before going to sleep so that when you get up in bed the following morning you won't forget anything and it will help you save time either.
