this situation happened two weeks ago when my classmate presented her report in class. the weather wasn't so good and the heavy door that usually makes noise when blown by a strong wind caught everyone's attention. she asked a favor from this Filipino but with American culture guy if he could please...*the sentence wasnt continued because she decided to ask her other girl classmate in Cebuano. Suddenly the guy stood up to do it for her. She was amazed that he was able to understood everything maybe because of the gestures or maybe he was just pretending not to understand cebuano but he really does. then she said "very good" and clapped her hands. the guy was annoyed and said something ridiculous. now, half of the class said it was really annoying for the guy and the other half said he was just overreacting. what do you think? for me, i think it was just a small thing and not be given a big deal...

its not a big deal.... it depends on how you receive the matter, being broad minded you see this as a mere thing but being narrow minded you see this as a heavy insult or something like that.. well in the end its your decision that counts...

yeah...kinda, but it was good because at the end those two reconciled and the guy admitted he was overreacting. he kinda realized that when he noticed the girl's mood changed from being happy to sad while presenting her discussion.

If i was that guy i would hate being under estimated like that, especially by another, student and to taunt him after like that is like adding insult to injury i dont think he was over reacting at all

i get your view. i think that is what he feels but maybe he wasnt able to see that the girl was merely trying to make the boring class fun integrated her report topic which was about special children. hmmm...but yeah, that is what i thought of as the reason why he reacted like that.

Everything is just dependent on the individuals who were involved in the situation. One would say, 'Why clap?' a simple gesture of gratitude is enough but, clapping might seem to be a reward that you would give to someone who does appreciate it, like younger people below ten years old. Perhaps the favor that he made didn't require any applause at all and sometimes, when others do that after a person performs a simple task, it would imply that his or her capabilities are quite limited and being able to do basic tasks is already an achievement. For him, to react like that, I guess he just got vexed and felt ridiculed. Or he simply had a bad day and that situation that you have shared just didn't go well with him. At any rate, we all have different levels of tolerance and we get that with how we grow while adapting to the different things that surround us during our development.

I think anybody would be able to figure out what is being asked after the door slammed, unless I'm missing other info from you. But I would be pretty annoyed too, why doesn't the girl give him a chance and why did she have to act like superior, I can see why the guy got angry... but at the same time, I wasn't really there so, I'd have to see it myself.
