People tend to sleep when traveling

There are a lot of people feel sleepy when they are traveling. Some can control their sleepiness, but others fall in the deep side of their unconscious mind. When i travel, i usually feel this discomfort feeling but i really try my best to control it. Mostly, when i am traveling i do not sleep because i want to see the beauty of the surroundings. I am having fun looking some views while on travel it feels me more relax and appreciate the beauty of nature. But it is case to case basis, when the location is familiar to me i rather sleep while traveling but if it is new to me and feels excited to view the location and the beautiful sites every time i have passed them. What do you think about this? Are you a sleepy traveler or what?

Most of the traveller prepare to sleep the reason I don't really know, but for me I never sleep in my travel journey not to see my sorrounding but Im discomfort especially long journey. To those frequent travellers might be their reason are familiar already the sorrounding, so no choice is to sleep or being tired. thanks and enjoy... see you around

I don't. I was brought up not to sleep whenever we travel for safety reasons and i have problem in motions, i have motion sickness so definitely it can't sleep and most of the time i vomit. So, i don't enjoy the trip. When medicines for motion sickness was not invented yet my parents load me with food to ingest so that my attention will be diverted. Up to now i do suffer the same problem every time i commute. I always have candies in my pocket.

I often sleep when the path that I would go through is already familiar to me. I usually did this when I got to school. I would know the buildings, the bridges, the sign posts and so on while I go on so, I just sleep and conveniently wakeup even before arriving to my destination. Its however different when I would be going home. I don't sleep when I am on my way home. Not because I was to see the view through the window but, I am a bit weary of what might happen while I am sleeping. You never know what might happen and there have been cases of things getting lost while a passenger sleeps through the trip. Now, when I am going to a very foreign place, a new place that I haven't been, I don't get sleepy at all. This mostly happens when I am going out of town with friends.

There is nothing more relaxing than nodding of while traveling. When I'm riding with my boyfriend in the car I do try to stay awake for him though. He likes to talk while driving and as much as I'd love to nod off in sleep I need to stay awake and chat with him.

Yes most of them do. But I can never sleep well while I am travelling unless I am very tired. I feel bored just because I dont feel sleepy. :(

Wow nice to hear that you do not fall asleep while traveling. That's good at least you can see the beauty of nature and appreciate the nice view to see. It is nice to be awake sometimes while traveling.

I can never fall asleep when I am traveling. I wish sometimes that I could! It would make the trip go a lot faster. I wouldn't want to sleep if someone else were driving. I always feel like I should make conversation so that they stay awake. Other than that, I always wish to sleep. I am a terrible traveler, and am like a little kid, always asking "Are we there yet?"

I tend to sleep when traveling unless it's a new area or if the driver is the only other awake person in the car. It's nice to sleep when it's a long trip because it makes the time go by. When I was younger I went on a lot of trips with my parents (3-5 hour drives) and I just got used to falling asleep and waking up when we got there. The freeway has a hum to it that just puts me to sleep.

I wish that I could sleep when travelling. I have enough trouble sleeping when I should be- as I am a light sleeper. So I am often tired, without sleeping properly.

when i am on public transport i tend to get very sleepy and sometimes i do fall asleep. When i am travelling with friends or family in a car or van then it would depend on how tired i was. Other than that i am awake as it is me that drives my car.

For the longest time I had trouble falling asleep on airplanes. Even after staying up all night and on a transatlantic flight I could not fall asleep. I traveled from Los Angeles to New York to Brussels to Madrid and didn't sleep at all. I think I was up for a total of 56 hours or so. Everything changed when I got prescribed antipsychotics. Now I can fall asleep anywhere if I'm tired enough including in planes and cars. It's a little embarrassing and at times I wish I could stay awake but no can do. I need those naps.

When I was a young child, I always get dizzy when I travel. So I have developed the habit of sleeping while on the road so that I will not get dizzy. Now that I am older, it helps reduce my dizziness when I am on the window seat of the bus. I prefer not to sleep when traveling via public transportation, but if I travel by our car, I prefer to sleep so that I am energized when we reach our destination

Yeah , i agree with you . To start travelling, we feel lazy and tend to sleep. But if we on the process of travelling, we feel supported with the exciting journey so we dont want to miss and not sleeping.

I love to sleep while traveling. It makes the time fly and it feels so good to be gently rocked to sleep. The only time I would consider in an uncomfortable feeling is when I am at the wheel!

Can't help it, especially if I've been tired for the whole day and the need to grab a nap is necessary...
