I've recently learned it. It's fairly easy after you understood the complicated parts. Although there's a great need for practice because depending on the cloth, the alignment of a stitch is pretty hard. Although I don't know how to adjust the tension right. Can some one explain how it works? The stitch should look like a bit thicker on the lower thread and the upper thread should have one stitch. The problem is that both sides(upper and lower) has a single stitch. Can someone help?

Good for you oxyde!! I personally have a love on sewing even at a young age. I have sewn a Barbie dress, repaired some of my dresses, and even did a dress for my kid. But I did those handmade only.. back then, my mom used to sew things on her sewing machine.. I too, tries using it, but unfortunately I think I was the culprit why the sewing machine was broken, and until now it is. I don't think mama didn't even realize that I was the last user before she found out it wasn't working right.. Haha.. So now, I still don't know how to operate a sewing machine.. I wish I did know, because that would be easier for me to do stuffs, rather than making then with my bare hands.. Sewing is a very interesting hobby, and I love it..

wow, dearie,i never thought you can sew a dress for your kid. that's wonderful! is it a new one made just for her or you just repaired her old clothes? i hope i can see that dress, even the one you have made for yourself. so,your mom didn't have the chance to know what happened to your sewing machine? you didn't even tell her? haha, guess you are naughty sometimes! of course,it's easier to sew with machine than with bare hands. unfortunately,i was like you,i never learned how to sew using sewing machine...

That's cool! Though I think there are times that sewing with hands is easier than machine because I can't get a stitch straight. I sew with hands first, but only simple running stitch, cross stitch and crochet.. But they all looked quite I can't think of the right term... messy? I wish my mom made me a dress. That would be a treasure I'll keep for my daughter someday :D There are tons of sewing machine in the dept. stores that are relatively cheap and they are also electronic or battery operated so they are made easier. My sister was taught by the saleslady and she passed to me the know-hows. It's quite complicated but practicing makes it easier.

hello gyabo! both my parents do sew clothes. they even teach others to sew at their school. they were both public high school teachers. they also accept home offers. like sewing clothes or uniforms of other neighbors or relatives,or friends of friends. but i never got the chance to sew on their machine. well,i have tried sewing but,i just can't even learn how to. my parents were somehow busy most of the time. if there was another family member in this house who have urge to sew,it would be my younger sister. she used to sew bags of her own designs which she gave to her friends. i have no talent in sewing,if i can sew,i can only use my hands to do that. too bad,i really can't learn how to work on it.i don't have patience for that. i guess if there's nothing else to do,i would really love to learn to use the sewing machine.

Hi annavi23 ^_^ I also had a hard time sewing. To tell the truth, I even accidentally got my finger almost stitched because I think my foot pressed the presser foot by reflex when I was fixing the thread to the needle :D You're parents are amazing. I love teachers in high school and although I haven't learned sewing from school, I know they're teaching an important skill. Someone who've learned sewing either by hand or machine can repair clothes rather than go to the tailor. And there are amazing gifts you can form by sewing. I also think you're sister is cool. I don't know how to make a bag but maybe I'll just put a handle to the pillowcase I recently sewn and ta-da~ hehe...it'd be a bag. But I don't think I'll do that. It's really fun to sew with a sewing machine. Although sometimes stressing. (Especially the EYES! the needle eye is so small it takes me five minutes before I fit the thread) It's fun and worth the patience and effort ^_^
