With music as a background, I find working more inspiring and at the same time enjoyable. Music makes me concentrate more in what I am doing. Rather than suffering the silence which is sometimes annoying, I turn on the radio. As I work, I also enjoy the music. I can write better with music playing. It makes my mind work naturally and smoothly. Music to me is like food that gives me energy as I do my work.Music is my antidote to boredom and laziness when i don't feel like working.
With the ability to change the mood of nearly any situation, music can be an intriguing way to pass time and brighten your spirits. If you have an excessively monotonous job, listening to music can make every minute of your work less lackluster and keep your mood light.
For me, music is one of the best ways to help me get through my work. As a student, I find ways to earn pocket money through writing on mylot and several other sites. While doing thid , listening to music is one of the most intriguing modes of entertainment available. You want to concentrate on writing, and listening to music simply makes the time pass much faster.
Actually Music is something that is used in all sorts of situations. They play certain music in shopping malls to make it a calming experience, and it works. They play certain music in clubs to make it seem exciting and fun. The same happens in the workplace. Often, employers will play music that promotes both the comfortableness of customers and guests, as well as the contentment of their staff.
I do agree that some times music can be distracting also mostly depending upon the type of work but still I find it quire calming, especially when right type of music is played.
What are your views friends. :-)

It will really depend on the volume of the music you are listening. I will really never comprehend what I am studying if there would be any kind of music whether it is a loud one or a soft one. But I would love to have loud dance music while I am doing the household chores. It will make my mood really high so my body will tend be more active and will be lively to do the work I am doing.

Yeah!!It's obvious, if the volume will be too high then, it'll almost impossible to figure out what we actually have to do.
But that household thing is interesting. You ever tried it before :-p. If not then do try it and tell me the result.
Thanks for your valuable reply anyways. :-)

I like having music on while working and studying- generally instrumental or showtunes. Sometimes I can have to TV on softly, but nothing with a laugh track- my roommate seems to only watch shows with laugh tracks and I've quickly learned that I can get no work done with them. Music with a slow tempo can help me sleep, while upbeat songs help motivate me to work out. So, yes, music helps me with a variety a tasks.

I'm gonna have to say music can be distracting for me especially if I'm working because I love to sing along with the song when I'm listening to music so it'll definitely take a good portion of my attention if I listen to music while doing some work.

I very much listening to music, pretty addicted I would say. Yes, listening to music is my favorite way of relaxation and getting rid of the stresses of the day. My favorite in fact is classical music, and I listen to classical music CDs every evening after getting back home from work. I don't listen to music at my work place though.

I'm not really comfortable studying with music in the background, because I tend to get distracted and listen focus more on the music than my studying..Sometimes I even sing along with it.. So as much as i love music..I've got to turn it off when I'm doing something.

Hmm...you're one of the few people who I know, can concentrate better while listening to music. For me, I tried it too and it kind of worked but not when I'm studying for a lot of subjects. It worked when I was studying for only one subject and it happened when I was studying for my 'O's. Well I do find that listening to music while studying is a calming and enjoyable experience, but only some people can take it. For me, I can't take those pop music because I find that, when I listen to those, I tend to concentrate to the lyrics more and all I see are lyrics in my mind! LOL! Take for example now, ok, I'm working on Mylot and I'm listening to my favourite Kpop. Strangely, I concentrate better when I write on Mylot while listening to music. It cannot work when I'm studying. So now I've found another alternative, which is jazz music. I listen to that when I'm studying and taking a nap. The result was fantastic. Jazz calms my mind down and in fact, I study better. Yea.

I have always enjoyed music while studying at home or being at work. It was something that I found to be very relaxing for me. I never found music to be a distraction. Music only enhances what i feel or do.

Well it depends on the person him/herself. For me, I also find it inspiring and relaxing. I don't really like silence that is why I always turn on the music whenever it's silent. I love music since it also brightens up my mood and makes me feel better- I even dance and sing to it sometimes.

I guess it depends on each person, but I personally find listening to music really helpful when I'm working or studying, for some reason it helps me concentrate much better than if the room was completely silent (or if I'm able to hear other background noises). Music also makes it much nicer and inspiring when I'm drawing :)

music is one which can have a great impact on human beings. starting from the age where music has just started ... people slowly became addicted to it . now a days it has reached that extent .. where the psychologists and few doctors are also recommending their patients to listen to music . this is suggested in order to forget the stress in their minds and deviate from it . so that it can improve the patient's mental healthyness ..

It all depends on your working (or learning) style. Some can juggle both working and listening to music at the same time, some don't do so well. I recall a classmate in high school who couldn't study without music in the background; I, on the other hand, tend to get distracted by it if the music isn't instrumental. At my age now, I can handle both at the same time a little better.

It depends onw hat type of work I do as well. When I'm "working" online, music definitely helps me keep motivated and typing fast (or doing whatever it is I'm doing). When I'm at work, headphones in - for example, when I'm closing the store or doing physical labor, music is definitely what gets me moving faster. I don't know what it is about it. However, school work, writing, and so on - sometimes I can listen to music without being distracted and sometimes I need pure silence. It really just depends.

For me, it depends on the music. Sometimes, we tend to sing the songs we love from the music player. Sometimes, we tend to memorize the lyric. That's disturb study. So, when I study, I less the volume. I let the songs flow softly. By the time I finish, it is OK for me to sing it aloud. Then the music will become more relaxing. Without music, my life will be more and more silent...

I find that music is very distracting when I am working. Does not matter what kind of work I am doing, I only listen to music when I drive.

They are pros and cons having musics at the background while trying to concentrate on your work. Some people could do that, but for me, I couldn't. Its just hard to concentrate on my work and it is difficult to get my job done properly. I'll rather go out for a walk, maybe go for a cold bathe when I can't concentrate and come back and do my work again.
