Do you buy second-hand clothing?

It's becoming a craze in my part of the world: second-hand clothing, usually branded ones that often sell for 1/10th of the original price. I am becoming hooked into shopping for second-hand clothes myself, and they're filling my wardrobe. What about you? Have you jumped into the bandwagon yet?

I would buy secondhand equipments/cars/house etc but i would never consider clothing or any personal belongings. We are not sure who the previous owner is and i am afraid it might not be hygienic enough to wear such cloths. Anywhere, it depends on individual. If the source of clothing is good, i believe it is still viable to buy it.
Cheers!

I totally understand your concerns, and yes, one has to ensure that the quality and cleanliness is good, or else we'll end up with ratty clothes and a skin disease. That's the last thing I need. Haha.

Yes I do buy second hand clothing from a local thrift store. And sometimes I love to go to Garage Sales for my clothing.I found a brand new pair of jeans at a Garage Sale for a $1.00 You can't beat that!! I enjoy going to places like that and other places like the Goodwill Store and thrift stores!! Have a good day!

I started buying second hand clothes some years ago and I often visit the second hand shops in my area. I have found some very nice and very cheap clothes that way. Some of the shops sell second hand underwear and I wouldn't buy that, but I have often bought other kinds of clothes like skirts or sweaters. I have learned to be careful when I buy second hand clothes. Sometimes there is something wrong with the clothes, because they have already been worn many times, so I always have a close look at the clothes before I buy them.

Definitely no second-hand underwear for me too. But as you said, there are some really good quality clothes that we can't simply resist.

Yes, I buy second hand clothing. I live in an ex socialist country and before the changes here we had no such stores. I saw second hand things for the first time in France and I liked this. Then a friend who went to live abroad told me that she was happy to find good things for very cheep prices. I'm not Paris Hilton and I can't afford to visit expensive shops. But of you have a chance and a flair you can find unique clothing for nothing.

I agree with what you said about finding some unique clothing. I especially love the vintage ones. I just alter some of them to add a modern twist. Very stylish and unique indeed.

I'm not into buying second-hand clothes. For me there's a lot of things to consider before buying these kind of stuff. First, what could you get from the second-hand clothes that you bought aside from addition to your wardrobe? How about transferable skin diseases, right? Second, how about quality? We don't know how long it has been used, right?
Usually some says all you need to do is wash it thoroughly and nothing to worry about. But for me i don't think it will still work for me. For the quality, many will say it's as good as brand new 'coz that's how it looks but not all clothes that looks good means quality is still good. Consider those brand new clothes getting ripped from the first time used, this happens even in branded clothes.
But of course this is just my opinion, maybe i'm just not really into buying second-hand clothes.

Oh I totally respect your opinion. As they say, "one man's meat is another man's poison". So I don't really expect everybody to have the same thoughts about the topics as me. But yeah, you're right about the downside, especially about the skin diseases and quality. But I guess for me, I make sure that they are of good quality and check the items thoroughly before I buy them. And yeah, I do boil and disinfect them. So far, I don't have any complains . . . yet. Cheers!

I am buying second hand clothes and don't find anything wrong in it. Just make sure that before you wear it, it is totally clean and being washed with antibacterial detergents. For people who are rich, of course, they will never buy that. But for those who are living averagely, they will. :-)

Oh I even have rich friends who buy second-hand signature stuff. Hehe. And you're right they have to be really clean and disinfected, of course.

Yeah, second-hand books and CDs are better options to clothes. But I guess, I just can't resist some signature brands on the second-hand store when I see them. :-(
