At what age did your child have his/her first tooth?

November 9, 2010 5:51am CST
Our son had his first two teeth come up at 5 months of age. He is now 9 months old and has 5 teeth. I have spoken to a few mothers and fathers and they have said that their little one didn't have teeth until about 8 months. Also, my cousin's son is 14 months old and he still only has one tooth. I just wondered how other peoples children on here had teethed.

Babies differs from each other. My eldest is more than a year when she first has her tooth. My second child is on his 8 months when he first has his tooth and my youngest is 5 months when started to have his tooth. Same thing with the steps(walk,) or talk stage,it also differs when baby's able to walk or say a word. Enjoy your baby, and take note of each stages and you will surely love it. have a good day always

Thank you for your response. I was wondering if the developement of a child also changes if they are surrounded by other children? My son has his niece and nephew and therefore his speach seems to be helped by having them around him and playing with him alot. Did you find this aswell?

My son had his first teeth (2 appeared at the same time) when he was 6 mos, he is now 9 mos and another 2 are about to come out. I think every baby is different because another baby in our church, who is about a year old now, still has no tooth.

Both of my children were about 6 months old when their first tooth came in. i think it is a more exciting feeling for the parent than it is for the child.

My daughter had two bottom teeth by her first birthday and I can remember thinking these are the only two teeth she is ever going to get. It was just the two for a long time and then by two years old she had the full set in. They would grow in four at a time so the rest went pretty quickly once they got going. She never had any teething fussiness at all I would be feeding her and see more teeth. She never cried or anything we were really lucky with that and she never drooled. I was really happy about that.

it seems that my son has developed his teeth quiet fast. from memory my neice and nephew grew their teeth quiet early. so i am now wondering if the early developement is a family thing.

My son started teething when he was a little over 3 months old. We thought it was a little early but his doctor said there's nothing wrong with that. Compared to his cousins, he's a little more advance.

Kate said Jake got his first tooth around 4-5 Months, It wasn't all that long until he had most of his teeth. Ellie was 6 months old when she got hers, she wouldn't let go of her dummy as easily. (as your aware) It's amazing how quickly things change and Harry will no doubt be getting all his sometime soon, then watch him break/damage all his drinking cups. hehe ;) Happy Mylotting,

I'd have to check the baby books, but I'm thinking all three of my kids got their first tooth around 5 or 6 months of age. I know my first child got all her teeth four at at time. I had a kid in daycare that didn't get his first tooth till after he turned a year old. I think the average is probably around 6 months of age.

Hi, My son has his first teeth when he was 5 months old..and I was so happy at that point of time. I can't wait to see more teeth pop out soon ..and before he reached his 2 years old, he has completed all this teeths and he is able to enjoy more food by then. I trained my son to brush his teeth at least twice a day...and he has to takecare of his teeth.

Kathryn was just about five months old when her first tooth erupted and Paul was just a day or two short of being six months old when he got his first tooth. However, my two nieces were closer to a year old when they started to get teeth, so I really don't think that there is necessesarily a correct time that children get their first teeth. I do, however, know that the younger that children are when they get their first teeth, the younger that they will be when they start to loose their baby teeth, Kathryn was five years and three weeks old when she lost her first two baby teeth.
