Does your dog wakes you up in the morning?

My previous dog, Nera, used to wake me up before my alarm clock. She always knew when it was the time to wake up, she never woke me up earlier, nor late. She had a clock in her brain, she knew when it's 6.00 a.m. and, with an error of few minutes, she came to tell me it's time to get out of bed.
She had a special way of waking me up. She didn't say anything and she didn't touch me at all. She only stood there by the bed, staring at my face. Somehow I knew she was there, and I woke up.
I haven't find out yet why did I wake up when she was looking at my face like this.
Now Nera is gone and I have another dog, Binne. But she's so lazy! I thought she wouldn't wake up in the morning by her own, I always had to wake her up in the morning to go outside for the morning walk.
But... surprise! This morning I woke up with a strange feeling. I opened my eyes and I saw her beard close to my face. She didn't touch my face, she didn't bark or cry, she only stood there looking at my face!
So, it is happening again!
I have had two dogs until now, both with the same awaking ritual. Can you explain this?
Do your dogs wake you up in the morning? How?

Wow, that is cool, that is if you want a dog waking you up. My other dogs, they only got up if I did, regardless of late I was sleeping in. My puppies on the other hand, doesn't understand the time change we just went through. So every day, whether it was a weekday or weekend, they would start whining around 6:50-7:15. (I get up at 6:50 to get my son off to school) Now you'd think they do this because they have to go outside to relieve themselves, for if it was, I'd try to train them to wait. But that isn't it, oh no, they want to play or eat...
That was bad enough, but now with the time change, we are suppose to get an hour hour of sleep..But not with Penny and Ciara, now between 6:00 and 6:30 they are whining and I am thinking, "No, it is not time to get up yet.."
I think it is interesting that both your dogs just sit and stare, no whining or jumping or anything like that. And like I said, if you are one who doesn't mind, that is really cool. But I like to sleep in once in a while..lol

I remember there were weekend days when I wanted to sleep a little more, but Nera was there, staring to my sleepy face. It was no way of staying late in bed.
I'm curious to see if it will become a habit for Binne, too, or what happened this morning was only an accident.
It seems I'm a lucky dog owner to have such silent dogs. I think I wouldn't like if my dogs woke up and start jumping or whining to disturb all the neighbourhood.

LOL, well you know my puppies, all active and jumpy... Plus they can't just sit and stare. Even during the day, they have to touch me or bump into me, I think it is their beagleness, because beagles are very needy, always seem to need attention. But I love them anyways, they are my babies..:)

My dogs are exactly the same they wake me up every morning before my alarm clock because they need to go out and do their thing. I am surprised though that it is the same exact time every day right before the sun comes up and they know that the day is starting and they need to go out. The way they wake me up is one comes to my face and licks my cheek or one will gently make a crying sound almost like a cat very soft and low not so loud it scares me. Then since one of my dogs is a husky/black lab mix he gets near my bed which is near my bedroom wall and all I hear is thump, thump, thump, which is his tail against the wall wagging joyfully at the new morning approaching. LOL I love my doggy alarm clocks who needs those screeching loud and annoying store bought ones I'll stick with my furry little friends.

Ahh I see, my dogs Neves and Lucid are a bit vocal but not to the point of annoying anyone. They have always been good dogs just a bit hyper some times so I need to make sure to take them for very long walks. Yeah I love that they wake me up with the kiss on the cheek it is so sweet of them and a nice thing to wake up to.

It's nice how your dogs wake you up every morning. Especially that licking the cheek part. It seems you have a nice and gentle dogs.
I wonder if Nera made any sound when she stood there by my bed? I never heard anything, though. Yet, neither Nera, nor Binne wouldn't make noise inside the house, as this is has allways been a forbidden action.

My dog does the same thing. However, my dog isn't silent. She whines and cries until you have no choice but to move! Lol, I think I prefer your dogs approach!

I know how you may feel. My parents didn't allow me to have a dog when I was living with them. When I live home and went to college, I couldn't have a dog because my room mates didn't like dogs. But as soon as I finished college and I got a place of my own, I bought my first dog. It worth the waiting.
It will be a time when you'll have your dog, be patient.
If you want to get close to that dog on the street, ask her owner if you can pet her. If he is not bothered by this, he will help you become friend with his dog.

Hello Rupa, and welcome to myLot!
It seems that your Flaudy is the master of the house. You, humans, must do whatever he wants you to. I suppose he's a small dog, usually the dogs that are small have the tendency to became little tirans into their families. Tell me, am I wrong?

Well, Gissi is an old respectfull gentleman, he needs to rest more than a young and restless puppy as Binne.
I had to do the same with Binne until yesterday. Sometimes I woke up do my morning duties and get dresed before Binne woke up. She layed in her armchair, with her tummy up in the air, watching my every move, but without moving a hair of her coat. I wonder what has happened to her that she started to wake up before me?

My two dogs have learned that when the alarm clock goes off - since I set it for different times each morning depending on my work schedule that day - it means I need to get up! So they will stand up at the side of the bed and try to wake me when they know it's time, anything from just putting their front paws there so I know they're there, to pawing at me ("petting" me?) to rouse me. :) Sometimes the one dog hits me in the face with her paw if I don't respond soon enough to their other efforts, haha! I've always loved that my two dogs do this... except on days when I want to sleep late and their natural alarm clocks tell them I should be up at that time, regardless.

So you still use an alarm clock. Maybe that's because you don't have a strict program and you don't wake up the same time each day.
Maybe they do stare at you as Nera and Binne did, but it is possible that you don't "hear" them, so they need to use more... drastic methods.
They must be cute when they do that pawing at your face!
I heared about dogs who pull the blankets off their owners in order to wake them up. Can it be true?

Not every morning, thankfully, but sometimes he does. Mostly by whining because he wants to go out, but sometimes he also barks because he got up before me and saw something in the window.

Hmm, another dog that barks in the morning!
I wonder why would he feel the need to make noise to wake you up. Could it be because dogs are social animals and they don't like to be alone?
Do you use to sleep late in the morning? (because you stay late in the evening to myLotting, like I do? )
