Hello Zsolt72,
Perosnally for me it is Monet use of color and light in paintings over Van Gogh.
Van Gogh is ok for me bush his brush stroke was quite unusaul and very curvy and big strokes in his paintings. Monet was more normal in that regaurd and was not as abstract as Van Gogh.

When I was younger, like middle/high school, Monet was my favorite artist. I loved the colors and texture given to all his waterlily paintings. I even found some yarn that was called "Monet" and it had the shades of green, purple, blue etc that are like the ones in his paintings and had my mom make me an afghan out of it. i still love Monet's work, but I now love a lot more artists, too. Van Gogh is great and I have liked his stuff as well. One of my other faves was always George Seurat. We studied him in high school art class and loved that he made his paints out of tons of little dots.

I like abstract and surrealist work. I also like Seurat's pointillism technique more than impressionism.
Other work I like is pop art.
If I had to choose out of Van Gogh and Monet's work I would say Monet. I prefer his work to Van Gogh.

I do not prefer either. I am a huge fan of modern day pop art.
