Since 1997 I have been avoiding China made products, except for branded items.
Based on your story it seems that they have not learnt their lesson, and that is to produce quality goods, at least for the international market.
Some say you get what you pay for, so it does not matter. This is incorrect. For example a headlamp bulb costing half the price of a quality bulb lasts for only three months. The quality bulb lasts for two years. Do the maths, and it is not difficult to see that paying more results in the saving of money in the long run. Do not forget to add the time and transportation cost.

Congratulations, you've been had! heheh Just kidding. I don't under estimate China products but if that was just bought on streets and does not have an ISO certification or something, then I don't think it can be dependable.
We cannot deny the fact that most of what we our eyes can see on the market is MADE IN CHINA. Go to malls, restaurants, supermarkets, handy stores and even travel to other country and check the items, most of it will be tagged Made in China.
Here in India, novelty items alone are mostly Made in China. I do find it so cute and beautiful although the quality will never be that high end because the cost is also cheap. Now you need to double time and work work work. Keep it up!

I'm already dizzy, let me correct that one - * we cannot deny the fact that most of what our eyes can see on the market is MADE in CHINA... :)

I'm sorry to hear that, I know how would that feel like. Been a victim for the imitation and cheap products as well, it is very frustrating. One thing that I always keep in mind not to buy to a nearby store where the products are not known not to its quality are the electrical stuff which can be very risky especially to short circuits and the like which turned out to become the cause of faulty and rushed job. I hope you would be able to catch up for the deadline of your project.

I felt sorry that you had bought such inferior quality products, and piece of advice, do not buy it again from China - made products. But when you think about it, the price you pay for, might equalize the quality you deserve the product to be. There is no magic way that you can get anything free, right?

Hi Hushi,
Sorry that happened to you. Im in the US and a good amount of our products are made in China. All to often they are of poor quality. Our choices are very limited. To buy something made in the US we would have to pay a pretty hefty price for it.

We get what we pay for and right now most of us, regardless of what we spout on blogs and sites like MyLot, go for the cheapest. China is doing what it needs to do to grow its economy - selling products to other countries.
In our country, we are NOT doing what we should be doing. We do not insist that items coming from other countries have the same regulations we have here. Children's toys made in the USA cannot have lead content, but many items from China, including children's toys have enough lead to be dangerous, especially to growing children.
We don't insist countries have the same rules for produce we bring into our groceries and, we end up having more instances of food-related poisonings.
We are doing the same thing with our odd stance on illegal aliens and are now seeing the consequences. Many of the illegal immigrants do not have the shots we require our own children to have before attending school. As a consequence, we are now seeing a rise in childhood diseases such as whooping cough, measles, mumps, etc. Other diseases are increasing such as tuberculosis.
Whether it is a toy that's easily broken or a child getting a disease we thought all but wiped out here, we are importing a lot more than we bargained for and we are paying the consequences.

That's the downside of buying something cheap. It's not cheap at all then since you've wasted time and money too. But then who haven't experienced this. We tried to save our money as much as we can without thinking that sometimes this kind of decision is not worth it at all. We're so fond of buying cheap things and we just say it doesn't matter when it gets broken coz it's cheap anyway. But we've just thrown away our money.
Now we know what to buy next time. Lesson learned dear!

so sad that you were not able to pick a good one though lesson learned that sometimes, we get what we pay for. So usually, as a mother, always buy supplies of my kids an expensive one but will run for years. So i hope, my friend, i share a bit on this idea to you. Have a good day!

Mass produced, little or no quality control = CHEAP.
Cheap chinese imitation usually suck but when they are producing for a brand for example Adidas, they then improve the quality control because the brand depends on it's loyal customers by guaranteeing them good quality.
So many things come from China in todays world. US is like 90% getting it's products from china including electronics, some food, toys, Walmart stuff, pottery, clothes, etc.
I don't really know much about sewing but I remember seeing one of those staple like sewing gadget from 6 years ago. They did broke easily as you said.
Well, good luck hopefully you can get something better next time. Or maybe just make someone else do them for you with your supervision so you can watch the thing you want to make.
