Just Left the Mechanic

and the total was more than 2x the estimate he gave me and the car takes longer to start up. I had almost no gas in the tank (I try to have at least 1/4 tank at ALL times) and when I picked it up, the needle was barely above "E". Not something you want to experience when you work on residuals/on-call.
Made it to a gas station OK but then when I went to get a few food things, the cashier was having "one of those days". The customer before me left her banking info out and he had to chase her outside to clear and re-submit her info. He wanted to stuff 20 items in one bag.
I get home with enough food to carry a few days and music is blasting from the man of the house. The first thing he mentions is how he wish he knew I was going to store. I told him that it was not an official shopping trip. With work, side business and school taking place over the past several weeks (and I have a term paper due next week), I haven't had the energy nor time to do a day-long shopping trip to sustain for 4-6 weeks.
Going through the bags, I realize that the cashier left off an item and since the car now takes longer to get started, I don't feel like heading back out because I might tell him off.
For the first time in a long time, I feel a little unhinged. I hate this bumpkin music the man of the house is playing as well as the fact that he can't really help with car issues but criticizes the mechanic. We tried it his way (what my uncle calls shady tree mechanics and they were illegals) and I pretty much had to give my last car away.
Ok, I'm writing and feel a little bit better but I see my Bible, a cold Margarita bottle and the urge to just cry. What should I do? Maybe all of the above so I can't tell him to shut off his stupid music.
Sorry to ramble but I had to say it. Oh yeah, what should I do?

I'm sorry to hear about your bad day. I've never taken my car to a mechanic. My dad and uncles are great with cars, luckily for me, so when my car needs work done or looked at, they very kindly look for me. :) I'm sure that eventually I'll have to go go to a mechanic though.
We all have bad days. You just have to remember that tomorrow will come and there is no point in holding onto something that really doesn't matter. In the end it will just make you stressed out, especially if it's something that you can't change.

Allire, welcome and thanks. I read a couple of verses and having a margarita now so I can have a fresh start on my paper tomorrow.
You are fortunate to have mechanics in your family. While I'm glad to still have my grandfather around, he can't do those types of things for me anymore.

I'm sorry you've had such a rough day! I know what it's like to have car trouble, though! Every car I've ever had has always given me problems! Car trouble must be my middle name, lol! I don't drink, anyway, and if it were me, I would leave the Margarita alone and just read my bible. Those two things won't mix.

Hey Cyrus,
Got into the good Word first and waited a while before getting into my drink. :)
It's getting into electrical stuff and the odometer is almost at 100K so it may be time to get something else.
Wish I lived in NY sometimes.LOL
