Dear friends,
I just took my computer to be fixed and the "technician" did not put back a lot of programs plus some things everyone knows how to place. I need some icons at the bottom of my computer and I don{t know how to do it. I also would like the "desk" icon there so that I can check what I have. He put most of my personal stuff at a place he called "backup" but they will not open, like the outlook express.
How do I get programs back? How do I put some icons at the bottom? I bet that is easier. I cannot go there again until I find someone to take me. My shoulder with surgery does not like to carry weight.
Please help!

Hello marguicha......
It seems to me that your "technician" have formatted your basic drive i.e the drive in which the operating system was install. This is the reason why your computer is looking fresh and different to you.
Dont worry you can make computer your computer exactly the way it was previous time. The icons at the bottom your are talking about will come after installing the software "Object dock". After installing just drag and drop the icons you want to see at the bottom of your desktop.
On the other hand you cant open some of your personal stuff like outlook express from your backup folder (you can only open texts, documents, songs, videos, pictures). If you want to run outlook express in your system then you have to install it(look for the setup your vendor must have copied it to your hard disk).
I hope my response will solve your problem. If you have any more questions to ask simply reply.
Have a nice day......!!

Thanks for your answer. Where do I get "Object dock"? Is it a free software? I saw that I can see my pictures and even listen to my music. But it seems outlook wasn{t placed as software. I have the old computer with outlook express. Is it possible to copy it from there and add it to my hard disc?

Hi Margy. I'm so sorry this has happened. I would be so angry and in tears because of the frustration. I had not realised you had surgery my friend. I hope you recover well and soon and I send you hugs because I know this is just so awful for you.
I've just remembered how far behind I am....I do so hope your problems are well and truly fixed by now aznd your shoulder is feeling much better.

This is quite a terrible situation that you are in. But this is quite difficult to fix off site. I wanted to help, but it's difficult for me to do it if I don't see where this "technician" placed your file and how you wanted it done. :(.
hmm.. but maybe if you can make a list of programs that you wanted to see on your desktop. I do hope that this "technician" have reinstalled them, then maybe we can do something.
