Deep in my soul i often think i'm a reading lover, but to be a person who love reading pretty much, i still have a problem which makes me confused.
no matter how excellent on book is it? i never read one book for second time...i often hear someone says that "this book is so good, i have read it for three times..."in this moment i will feel incredible, how can one read one book for three times or even more times? i cant believe it!
Absolutely that's just my feeling..i dont know whether what i think is too extreme!
So i want to collect some good ideas and listen some meaningful feelings for this!
Now, pls generous to show what you think and write down your answer!

Hi Jimmy,
I believe that people have varied tastes. As far as books are concerned, I believe that there are two different kinds of books that you read - one that are for the sake of reading - novels, periodicals etc., and the ones that you can really make use of - the professional books that help you in your profession or making a livelihood.
For me, I rarely read the novels and others in the first category the second time... but the ones in the second category... I keep returning to them because they helpme re-solve many issues professionally.
Cheers,
theSids.

I'm an avid reader too, but I rarely re-read books. It's not that I don't think the book is good enough to be read a second time... I'm just so busy discovering new favorites and books that I love even more! (Or hate. I don't love everything I read!) The books I do re-read I usually read again after a few years have passed and I want to remind myself of all the details that I've forgotten. I always enjoy the books when I read them the second time... but I kinda prefer to read a new story.

Hi Jimmy, I seldom read a book for a second time.
I wont say that I never read it a second time. The second reading usually takes place many years later.
I used to read Enid Blyton's books when I was very young. However, I re-read some of her books after a gap of twenty years.
That was due to the time when I gave private tuition. Since I needed to test my students, to see if they done their reading, I needed to read it myself. I cannot expect to remember a book from twenty years ago.
I think many parents rediscovered the joy of fairytale in similar manner.
I think if a book is worth reading a second time, give a gap of at least ten years. By then we have different appreciation of the book. After all, our experience and perspective change in ten years.

I just think that you have not found the right book that made you want to read it a second time. There are many books that I read for example they are good. Perhaps a bit above average, but I am not going to read those books again. They are good enough for a first read through but I just know that the second time through, they might not hold up. In fact, this has happened to a couple of books that I have read in the past.
A book has to be really, really, good to read it again. These books are rare. Many people hardly come across them. Many people come across them far more often. I am right in the middle of everything. About once a year, I find a book that is on that level. Sometimes twice, but rarely more. It just depends on what speaks to you and it might be a while before you find a book that will compel you to read it a second time and maybe beyond.

I dont know why you dont like reading a book second time even if you like reading books very much.... but for me... If i like a book so much then I would read it atleast once more... Just as I watch my favorite film more than once.... When I read it the second time... I get many things that I actually dint notice while studying the first time.... Moreover... When I read a book which I like very much... I would feel happy to read it in the first case....

I feel the same exact way! I find that I'm a lover of books and even though I am, I could never read a book twice. My opinion on that is there is really no point because I know what is going to happen and I would really want to read something that I know is going to happen.
