Does absence make the heart grow fonder? Or does it just make you forget faster?

For me, maybe for friends.
Out of sight, out of mind. I have some close friends in a previous life where in we were always inseparable. We did a lot of things together. But after I moved, I was surprised that I don't miss them that much. I could even say that I've already forgotten them.

That's what happened to me in reverse. my friends moved away and we never kept in touch.

I think like you on this one. When someone is missing from my life it doesn't make me love them more. My daughter is in Europe....I will always love her just the same...miss her yes....love her more? I don't think I could love her anymore then I do right now!

Hi Sarah,
I believe that for those who are dear and near, absence does make us fonder of them... maybe for just the initial moments when we re-unite but it does have a bonding relation.
However, we are humans and tend to forget things when they are distant./ Prolonged absence may put some dust on the fondness but then still when when you re-unite, the things take off from a high.
Regards,
theSids.

No, for me its not true. I tend to lose touch with people if they are not in my sight. For me the saying "Out of sight ....out of mind" works!! I actually find it kind of difficult to connect with pwoplw who i cannot communicate face to face.

It depends on how long will I be far away or how deep is my love for the person. If the distance between us is too far that seeing each other might not be soon but come what may, then definitely it's an out of sight out of love for me. However, if i'm just away for a short vacation with a definite time to go back and be with him, then it makes me yearn for him more, and his absence makes my heart grow fonder.
