Does absence make the heart grow fonder? Or does it just make you forget faster?

There are only a few people that I truly miss when they stay away a little too long. My love for them remains the same. I miss them but My love doesn't grow or decrease. How about you? Is it true, absence makes the heart grow fonder?

For me, maybe for friends. Out of sight, out of mind. I have some close friends in a previous life where in we were always inseparable. We did a lot of things together. But after I moved, I was surprised that I don't miss them that much. I could even say that I've already forgotten them.

I think like you on this one. When someone is missing from my life it doesn't make me love them more. My daughter is in Europe....I will always love her just the same...miss her yes....love her more? I don't think I could love her anymore then I do right now!

Absence makes you realise how much important for you a person is. =)

I don't think that absence makes you forget faster. if this is the case, the love wasn't as lasting as you thought it was. When your love grows stronger for each other apart then you know it is real.

Hi Sarah, I believe that for those who are dear and near, absence does make us fonder of them... maybe for just the initial moments when we re-unite but it does have a bonding relation. However, we are humans and tend to forget things when they are distant./ Prolonged absence may put some dust on the fondness but then still when when you re-unite, the things take off from a high. Regards, theSids.

for me i believe that the more you miss someone the stronger you want to love him/her..but there are times that distance make us weak for other new people who are always there when our love one is not around...

No, for me its not true. I tend to lose touch with people if they are not in my sight. For me the saying "Out of sight ....out of mind" works!! I actually find it kind of difficult to connect with pwoplw who i cannot communicate face to face.

It depends on how long will I be far away or how deep is my love for the person. If the distance between us is too far that seeing each other might not be soon but come what may, then definitely it's an out of sight out of love for me. However, if i'm just away for a short vacation with a definite time to go back and be with him, then it makes me yearn for him more, and his absence makes my heart grow fonder.
