I have a question. Is it normal for Indian people to marry foreigners? Is that only in your caste or community or is that globally?

I think that is only within the caste system of the religion.

I'm not Indian or ever lived in India, but I did read a little about the country and the religion, so from what I've read, there are different caste systems and people shouldn't marry with any other caste but their own.

Why are you so angry? Maybe you need to learn to read what I've written again. I've just provided some information I've read in a book about India. If the book is incorrect you can just state that instead of getting so upset. I didn't even contradict a thing you've said. Maybe you need a hug. I hope you have a great day and thanks for replying to my comment anyway. Ps. "decision" is the correct spelling.

In what situations could a group in the caste system have a negative stance against a certain marriage?

Of course they are allowed, I am a foreigner married to an Indian. There is no such country that will ban a culture or of different race in order to marry. Caste system only applies to a religion or belief and has nothing to do if the person is of different belief.

Indian laws allow marriage between different caste, communities and countries there is no law that prohibits such marriage and there are different religions and its the only country that has separate laws for muslim marriages. In India you have a lot of freedom to follow whichever religion or caste you wish to follow. Though parents do find it hard to accept as its all over world to accept a groom from different caste because they feel young couples may not be able to adjust well or at times they worry about their heirs which is big issue of large property is involved. That is a personal agenda not a law. So you find understanding well educated parents as well as stubborn ones too...depends

Hi diamania, I have read some news about the marriage of Indian citizen with foreign citizen. I am mentioning here about the common people. Indian former President married a foreigner. Indian former Prime Minister married a foreigner. Of course all were love marriages. I think people won’t mind the citizen, caste etc in case of love.

Ok, I see so in most cases there's no reason for a big group of people in India to morally object marriages in a certain situation?

I think it is possible for that to happen legally. I dont know of any country banning that action as yet.

My bad, I meant disallowing marriages from a moral stance in the Indian caste system or globally in India.

International law allows mixed marriages. It's only the culture that denies some race of marrying other race. But regarding the legality and the validity of the marriage, the citizenship of each couple should be taken into account and each shall follow their own laws.

Could you give me some examples of situations in which it's morally not done for an Indian man to marry a foreigner?

Its as normal as any people marrying foreigners anywhere else in the world! Yes, India is still very much a conservative, traditional country with lots of caste and religious divide but there are plenty of Indians too, who have married foreigners and lived on happily ever after LOL…its mostly with Indians who’ve settled in foreign countries, so naturally love there plays a stronger role than caste and religion but in many cases, Indians have come back with India with their foreigner spouses and settled here and everybody seems to be quite OK with it.

India is a democratic country. You can marry anybody you like, the only condition being the age of the boy must be over 21 and of the girl, above18. Apart from this, there is no conditions. You can marry a foreigner or even an alien from outer space.
