.....nope, it's just a plane. Flight AWE808 to be exact. A daily flight the departs from Pheonix Sky Harbor international airport every day at roughly 5:45 pm west coast time. A lot of hype has been made in the news the last couple days over what looked like a missile launch over the pacific ocean, captured on camera by a news helicopter. since the story broke, all manner of theories have popped up, everything from an accidental launch to some claiming a Chinese sub launched off our coast as a show of force.
But a little checking goes a long way. A web cam on Newport Beach will capture this "launch" every evening and a check of flight routs will show the regular path of this particular flight. Yet strangely enough, the news is ignoring all this and still perpetuating it as a "mystery". I guess the mundane just isn't news.
An image montage showing the flight information and a screen shot from the web cam can be found here:

The actual webcam can be found here, tune in every day at 4:45 west coast time to watch the "launch" :

The conspiracy websites are having a veritable field day with this one too. Prison planet has come completely unglued. Any efforts I have made to show simple evidence there or on facebook have been met with ridicule or crickets. *shrug* Oh well.

The first thing I thought when I saw this was, what is this supposed to distract us from?
Obviously it could not be a missile of ours and China would not fire one off this close without a target, nor would Russia. Thanks for solving part of the mystery.

I was just looking a little while ago to see if they ever figured it. I didn't find anything that mentioned what you did, just the "mystery" part.
