Thanks the View for this question. Today they discussed how it made them feel if their date asked them out and then used a coupon. I as with Whoopi. She said she thought it was ok. and she thought her date was saving money they could use somewhere else. But Sheri saw it as a deal breaker. She saw it as her date acting cheap. What are your thoughts? Would it be ok if your date used a coupon to pay for dinner or would this be a deal breaker?

I think it would be very strange but I am not sure it would be a deal breaker...we all have to try to be money smart..and if that means using coupons well so be it...if it was a habit and he could never pay full price then I would question his intentions....am I not good enough to take out once in a while without being cheap? LOL

I must confess I am a cheap date . A pizza and a soda a movie or a hockey game on t.v. and I'm happy!

I have never used a coupon on a first date. And I wouldn't think of using one if I were on a date.
But if I look at this from the other side...
Say if it was a first date, and I did use a coupon, and the girl I'm with is fine with it, then I would also consider this as some sort of a 'dealmaker'. And maybe consider the person I am with as 'the one'.

am I glad I don't have to worry about all this! Let's face it, The One wants to spend time with you , Period. The best "date" I can think of is being at home with the one I love , eating pizza, a food I Will eat unlike the posh stuff at the resataurant and watching a movie!

I would have no problem with it...seflishly speaking...the money he saves from the coupon means I could buy a more expensive meal! or get an appetizer or dessert that I wouldn't be able to get do to money limits otherwise.

I think it depends on the situation. If it's a cheap place and I know it's a cheap place but they're still using a coupon, I might be really surprised and it could potentially be a deal breaker. However, if we went to an expensive place, I would probably say something like, "Wow, this is really expensive!" which he would (hopefully) reply with, "Oh, don't worry, I have a coupon." To me, that would be honesty and I would have NO problem with it.
But I hate it when they say, "Oh, I've got it covered," and then use a coupon. For me, that feels like dishonesty because it's almost like they want you to think they're so rich and whatnot, when really I wouldn't care if they were the richest or poorest person in the world. So using a coupon on the first date? No problem! But keeping it a secret until the time comes to pay? For me, that would be irritating.
