Real name or nick name? What would you like to be called?

Most often than not, my name would be mispronounced ending it sometimes funny, peculiar or unsoundly. When I was a high school, I love being called by my real name, it's probably the sweetest thing to hear. As I get older and get into a job, pet or nick names has started to come up. These are cute to hear, some are annoying ones, or pleasing to the ears. Nowadays, I frequently use my pet name especially in social networking, but my real name is here to stay..Pick your preference...

hello there! it will always be music to my ears whenever people are calling me on my name, real name or nick name don't really matter to me since my nicknames are just shortened name for my real name. but sometimes i just feel differently when some people that i just know address me in the name that my family and close friends use to call me. i don't know but i just feel different. hehe and sometimes i feel surprised when people whom i didn't expect to call me in my real name call me in my real name...lol! just like my husband's colleagues and bosses, they call me in my real name when i expect them to call me in my nickname. but then again, don't really matter, as long as its my name that they call me i'm fine with it!

I'm not easily offended when it comes to names call me anything except something stupid and hurtful. I would like my boss and supervisors to call me by my real name cause the relationship is different. I know my name is one that lends itself to being shortened and stuff so go ahead...

True, any name will do, but not those that sound stupid and foolish to hear..

I would prefer to be called by my nickname but not those nicknames "baptised" to me by former classmates because it really is not a good name. My real name is somewhat unique and it is difficult for some to spell. Maybe my name is the most "murdered" name of all. Never ask me of my real name for I will surely not tell you. LOL

Hi. Lexielilly. I would like to be called by my first name only. It sounds more mature and according to many people, I have a very pretty first name. I think that my first name makes me feel very ladylike and all grown up. My nickname makes me feel like a little girl.

It depends on who's calling. Normally, I would love to be called by my nickname. But, on professional and formal occasions, please do use my real name. My parents gave me a hideous nickname in grade school. In high school, it became a thing of the past, and a nickname, close to my real name was born. In college, a professor became an acquaintance of my mom, and they got to talking about me and my childhoo. Imagine my horror when she called me by my childhood nickname in class! I was so glad she was such a boring professor that the class was not listening!

I so got used to being called by everyone "baby" that hearing the sound of my own name at school sounded strange. Every time somebody calls me by my name, it gets into my skin and i just feel so uncomfortable. Even until now! I think it's because when my parents are angry they would call me by my first name that hearing it would just bring back that painful memory.

i don't have any nickname so i don't know the feeling of being called by a nickname, but i do have a friend or two made up a funny name for they call me by that sometimes that is very rare, so can't tag it as my nice name but anyways i prefer myself to called by my real name.It sounds good.

My family calls me by my given name but I hate it, because we're not close by any means. I prefer to be called by any of my nicknames, I only want my boyfriend to address me by my real name. I'm not sure why but... shrugs

well, when im in our house, people use to call me by my nickname...in elementary school, they call me by my first name. when I was in high school, it became a little formal because may teachers use to call me Ms. ( my surname ), but my friends call me by my first name. when I was in college, it was my surnam again. I think it depends on the people who called you... For me, it's doesn't really matter at all unless they misspelled or mis-pronounce my name, that's another thing.

Hi Lilly I had different nicks at different stages, at home I was called with one nick, at school and in friends they have my other nick related to my name. So I have experienced different nicks during my life time but now at professional level I would like to call me with my real name, and every one around me now a days know me with my nick. I have seen different people in my home town who are famous by their nick and no one knows about their real names so I want that people should know my real name instead of my nick but over here at myLot we are only known by our ids, which is also a nick, I want that over here, instead of our id, our names should be displayed...:) Have a nice day...

My name is long so I am just happy to hear it when friends and family called me by my nick name or pet name. It sounds so strange to me now whenever someone call me by my complete name I don't know why, probably I got used already of being called by my pet name which is just short and simple.

When I was young I prefer to be called in my nickname because I feel that my name then is too old for me but now I'm much older I prefer o be called in my real name because I find my name matured and with substance.
