I remember my first Internet Service provider as being really bad. It was a local company, that had a lot of connection problems. It was a dial up and it disconnected a lot of the time and took forever to load up. After a few months, I got cable and never looked back. How good or bad was your first Internet Service Provider?

My first ISP was a local phone company and I had dail-up also. It was allright but I got tied of phone calls interupting my net time. I finialy got a DSL connetion for my computer from the same company along with a good rate. It was great to use while I had it but now I share intent with my gf in her home.

Yeah dial up is very frustrating to say the least. Not to mention there are times where it did in fact get disconnected sometimes during my experiences. I think that these days, my Internet access has improved a lot of the time throughout the years. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

That brings back memories! I had a dial up connection, too, and from a local company. The connection was pretty good most of the time, but sometimes it took awhile to get connected. The worst part was that if I stayed online for very long - maybe over an hour - they would send intrusive little messages asking if I was still there. They didn't want anyone to log in and then walk away from the computer, I guess, but if you're paying for the service, you should be able to use it however you want. Anyway that's what I thought at the time. :) I have cable now, thank goodness.

Yeah you should be able to use it for any length of a time, whether it is ten minutes or ten hours. Getting such messages would be annoying and also break your concentration. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Well the first time i access internet from home is about 9 years ago. I used a dial up modem and access the internet using dial up connection. It is slow like hell. To see some picture take a few minutes of my time. And it also very expensive. Now, i still use the same company as my isp, but this time, i use ADSL connection. It is way better than that time. I think i quite satisfied with their conenection, it is not super speed, but at least it stable and it is quite fast for browsing and feel not that slow for downloading.

Yeah dial up was one of the worst periods of my life on the Internet. Taking four, five minutes to load some of the lower end websites and if there was something that was resource demanding, you might as well forget about it. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.
