It always comes in handy if you know html like i do but it's hard to get a job just whit html knowledge. There's almost always also demand for java or flash and so on. My dream is to get a job where i can really learn what i need in addition to html as i work. No luck so far but i did make two sites for profit in last month. Good companies want the best workers but starting with small company html will come in handy.

I am also interested in free lancing and have just started so i can't really give you any contacts but i'm interested in cooperation if we can benefit from each other. Heard about .net many times but still have no idea what it means...can you explain? I can code sites but am not good with design so i'm a bit like your friend. Thanks for comment

If you can write good style sheets (CSS) and valid HTML/XHTML and you have a decent portfolio, you might land an ok job. But, if you know PHP Peal/Cgi, and of course javascript ASP.NET Ajax, jQuery, and Flash, And, you can manage an Apache server, and change a site from a Unix/Linux Bash command line with the VI editor then you can get a very high paying career.

Simple plain html jobs are not at all worth enough to get jobs, Instead you should be a master in web designing and that includes several aspects . For all those HTML is the basic footstep and is necessary for the next higher versions.
