Phone not in the room so I run to it!

When I am home alone I usually forget to bring the phone with me into my room. I always have my cell phone but the house phone I don't. Whenever the home phone rings I run to get the phone. 90% of the time it is someone I don't want to talk to like a salesman or credit card company for my mother. I don't know why I run to go get the phone when I can just call them right back if it is someone that I do need or want to talk to. I guess I run to it in case it is my mother at work. Although I could call her back also. I have thought about this but I still run to answer the phone from my room or the kitchen or wherever the phone might be. Do you run to answer the phone?

Okay, don't you have a phone in your own room. Everyone in my house had their own cell phone and their own land line. Land lines are for emergencies and creditors, and the cell phones are to talk to anyone. I never have to run to answer my phone.

They aren't that expensive. My mom and I have three of them with caller id on them. We bought them at Target. They were our Christmas gifts to each other.

We have three headsets. I don't use the home phone that often. I try to remember to take one with me whenever I am alone but I usually forget and only have my cell phone.

Hi o2bnocn, I do the same thing and then get irritated too. My phone is usually upstairs when I'm downstairs. Nine times to ten, it is a telemarketer or someone that I don't need to talk to. Still, I have daughters and it could be any one of them or my workplace so I do run. I do try remember to bring the phone with me to whatever part of my apartment I'm in and that way I can just glance at the caller ID and see who it is without running. Still, when I forget...I run.

I only have my cell phone in my room too. If the landline phone rings I don’t usually bother to run for it because it has voice mail facility and if the person calling wants to speak to me badly enough he or she will leave a message so I can call them back. When I was younger I used to get terribly excited if the phone rang and I would always run to it. Since the days of mobile phones a ringing phone is not such an exciting occurrence and there is no real urgency to take calls immediately anymore.

Yes I do that almost all the time when my mother calls. Most of the time the calls are made by my mother. A lot of the calls are redundant and quite a lot of time when I run to answer it, I feel very irritated because when I answer, within 10 seconds, HANG UP. LOL!

Oh gosh you would think I would not run, but I do. I am having so many financial difficulties so my phone is being blown up by creditors. My phone rings like 30 - 40 times a day starting at like 7:30 am to like 9 pm at night. I know for a fact that it is a creditor, so I am getting tired of repeating myself and dealing with really mean and rude creditors right. So you would think I would not ever answer the phone. Instead each and every-time that phone rings there I am running and dashing to answer. I suppose I do because I figure what if it is an emergency of some sort. I suppose whoever calls me I could also call them back but I don't I answer each call. I guess subconsciously I would not forgive myself if one of my children called with an emergency and I did not answer.

That sounds completely familiar to me, as I run to get the phone in another room all the time. At home my mom always answers the phone, but many times she doesn't bring the phone with her, making me the one to answer the phone. I would say that due to the largeness of my house, it definitely makes things worse, as I have to run a long way to get it. About 80 percent of the time these calls are business related telemarketers, and so this past summer we got a caller id. After having the caller ID, we completely dismiss any numbers with "1-800" or "1-888," leaving us with less time to scramble and answer the phone. However, we are planning to add an extra phone in between the rooms that have one, thus making our job of running and getting it much easier.

Well I do have a cell phone too and I do bring that in the room all the time. My house phone I do the same thing I run to the phone too. If I'm home alone and it's dark out I am so afraid to get out of bed or off the couch to go get it. I don't know why, but I am.

No, I don't normally do that. Unless I am expecting somebody to call me then I ran after the phone. I suggest if you are already tired answering your phone, better if you have a recorder. Then, just check you caller once in a while so that you will be able to call back those important callers.
